As far as I know, I have always had relatively normal blood pressure. During my second pregenancy 6 years ago, in the seventh month, I contracted preeclamsia.
After the delivery my pressure registered regularly about 120/70 while in the hospital. However, whenever I go to the dr. my pressure is anywhere between 140/90 to 158/104. Occasionally it is about 130/80 when I take it at the local pharmacy. Well, today, I took it three times: 158/100, 147/104, and 135/84 were the consecutive readings. May I note that whenever I think about taking my blood pressure I freak out. I have recently changed my heating habits for the better and have started exercising. I am about 15 lbs. overweight. Do you think I should be concerned? Thank you very much.

We use to do bp checks on our patients. One thing we did was made them sit and wait for 15 minutes prior to checking. This way they have time to relax before. I think you need to do the same. You can get those automatic machines at Wal-mart at a reasonable price. Take it twice a day with at least 4 hours inbetween. About an hour prior no caffiene, smoking, or physical exercise. This can give you a more accurate response. Also take it in both arms. Do it for 3 days (document all readings) and if you notice it is staying high then you need to inform your doc!!!

Let me just add...being overweight can cause a higher blood pressure, but let a doc determine if that's the cause!!
