View Full Version : How long did it take YOU to see your BP go down on meds?

I would like to hear what people have noticed as far as how long from the start of taking their drug to being able to notice a drop in their BP. I know what doctors and guides say but I want responses from REAL people. Also what dossage are you now taking.

I will go first and state I noticed a change in the first 2 weeks when I went from no meds to 12.5 mg of Captopril. And then 2-3 weeks from 12.5 to 25 mg (in both cases twice a day.)

If other people can post like this we might all gain from this as to see what real people see as far as time and dossage rather than depend on studies or what is passed around...

Just thought I try to ask question we all can get involved in...

Elias: With captopril, you can have a reduction in BP as early as 60-90 minutes after one dose. But the duration of the effect is dose related and the reduction in your blood pressure is usually progressive.

SO, to achieve the maximum and best theraputic results, sometimes your doctor will want to monitor you one week later up to 4 weeks. (Usually though, within two weeks you know if it's doing the job)

Hope this helps.
