I am new to this web sight and am hoping to get some answers. I was Dx 5 years ago with MS. For the last year I have been suffering from a light headedness or feeling off balance. I have been to balance therapists and I can keep my balance fine. I actually went on a cruise in January 07 and was right at home with the ship moving. My Neauo says I have a spot on my spine that causes this. Well thats great but is there anything I can do for this? I drive for alot in my job and I always get the feeling of moving when I am still or sitting at a light. I am scared of actually getting in a wreck because of this. But I am not ready to give up the life I have now and not driving. It is so frustrating. Does anyone else suffer from this? Any help is greatly appreciated. Othewise I think the only solution is to live on a cruise ship. Which would be okay with me but maybe not my family.
thanks

Hey there, I know what you mean. I don't have the dizziness anymore but I continue to have arguments with my furniture though.

I have been doig physical therapy lately and including balance work to help...and it has helped a lot. I have also done some recent research on other methods and found specific exercises in T'ai Chi:

Here's a PDF with exercises for balance:
http://www.dizziness-and-balance.com/taichi/handout.pdf

And the page with the PDF lists a study done on it's effectiveness listing the exercises they used in the study: http://www.dizziness-and-balance.com/taichi/taichi.html

I suggest doing balance exercises to help your muscles deal with the neurological issues. They have helped me...although it is a constant battle, I find if I don't do my exercises, the weaknesses creap back in...so stick to it. ;)

Cheers,
rosie

You may want to try over the counter medication called myclazine.. it's for dizziness, nausea and vomiting. I've had the same issue you describe. You would not want to drive on it until you've adjusted to it's effects because it can cause drowsiness.

i do , and i also agree with the other reponses .. balance work , and if you should try a med for the dizziness, etc., talk with your pharmicist about what to expect or if it conflicts with anything you are on now .. my .02 , lol ..

Thanks for the replies. I am just so tired of feeling drunk all the time, and I don't even drink. I have tried Meclazine and it does not help. I will continue the balance exercises, I was not conviced before. I felt like my therapist was just making me dizzier.
