Hello everyone. I do suffer from Panic Disorder which was diagnosed in april of 2001 firstly so I wish to get that out of the way. (age 22 , 6ft tall, 180 lbs very little family history of heart attacks or strokes)

Back in March of 2007, I was sitting on my bed with my winter coat still on and debateing some issue or another with another family member when I started to feel very hot and my heart started to pound and it raced quite fast for an hour or more and remained high ( above 100 ) for the rest of the day. at one point the rate was about 170 bpm. Now this happened several more times. And similiar each time, A high rate above 140 which lasted for a couple of hours then came back down to below 100 and then back into the 70's and 80 's which are my norm.

I Eventually called my Dr as I was getting more and more worried Now I do admit I worry about my health frequently. But I did call and went in. SHe did the blood pressure check which of course was high, and my pulse was 101. And I had an EKG done which showed the Tachycardia but with a normal sinus rhythm. She discussed a slight increase in my xanax. And a Beta blocker.

I went on the Beta BLocker Metoprolol April 1st of 2007. Since then I have had very few episodes of fast heart rate and those that I have had lasted not long at all. I take 1mg of xanax a day as needed and 12.5 mg of Metoprolol (breaking the 25 mg tablet in half that is) Now my question is simple is I suppose , has anyone encountered something like this? And Does anyone have an opinion on it, And lastly I am curious about the Beta BLocker , can this pill damage my heart? cause it to enlarge or anything of that sort?

I truly would appreciate any advice.
