The goal is to keep the blood sugar levels in what is considered the non-diabetic range. That means below 100 fasting, and below 140 two hours after the start of a meal.

These ranges ay differ slightly if the person is a juvenile. I know that for small children they sometimes like them to run a bit higher for safety's sake.

The range my doctor set for me is 80-120 fasting and 100-160 post-prandially, but I agree with Cora, best to keep them as close to normal as possible.

to coravh the doctor told my husband that is level was at 125 and if it reached 127 he would consider him a diabetic but at 125 he is still not treating him he is monitoring him which he has been doing for 2 years

A fasting level between 100 and 126 is considered "pre-diabetic". Very often people in this boat are simply monitored and told to exercise, lose weight, and watch what they eat. But the 125 is definitely not "normal".
