I had a VEP on Monday (after spending 2 days in the hospital last week, after left arm, leg and side of face went numb...leg was numb for 2 days). ct scan and MRI showed lesions but spinal tap was normal.

Doc, over the phone today, says they do not think I have MS. Great. They are still waiting for the VEP. I have an appt. with neuro next Thursday for a formal conversation.

This makes me so happy. But what can be the matter? Since my discharge, I am still suffering left arm numbness, pins and needles in left foot and, last night, serious muscle aches and shooting pains. I do not have a pinched nerve.

What other things could bring on such symptoms?

That's a very difficult question to answer. There are about 100 other disorders that can mimic MS type symptoms.

It's important that you keep working with your doctor to find the answer and it's always possible MS might come up again :(

What is the doctor's specialty? Do they deal with MS? LP is normal in about 15% of MS patients. After 25 years of MS, my LP is still normal. There are other neurological, viral, and physical problems that can cause the symptoms you described. In order to ascertain MS, all the others have to be eliminated.
