There is going to be a special report on autism tonight on the news with Brian Williams at 6:00pm. Evidently it will be about a 'cure'???? Just a blurb I heard on the morning news about it.

I just saw the program. Basically it said there was a discovery that some cases of autism are caused by a mutation in chromosome 16. It said that this mutation is only responsible for 1% of the cases of autism.

Yes, I saw it too. Thank you for the posting antique!!! I would of missed it.
I was happy to hear about finding the chromosome connection, but a little disappointed that the connection attributes to only 1%. I guess it's a start???
The kids that they did feature in the broadcast weren't classical autistic. It didn't make sence. What did the 1% represent? Where on the spectrum.....more severe cases? Frustrating and poor reporting when the world of autism is waiting with baited breath. I really hope they take this and really run with it!!! I know the funding is there.

<I found an> article on the research and what was found. Not so much about a cure but about the search for the genetic reason why.
I have a cousin whose son is also autistic with asperger syndrome and a teenager now. I emailed him the article.
