A woman from my work just found out that her son has leukemia. He was diagnosed today and has already started treatment. He is 18 years old. I don't know what type of leukemia he has. What would his chances of survival be, once he starts treatment?? Is chemo enough or would he also need a bone marrow transplant? Or are bone marrow transplants only done if chemo doesn't work?? Im just curious.

Most Leukemia's have a high survival rate ..
My type has an 85% survival rate, APL.
