vaginal moisture is aided by hormones that is produced by the ovaries however the decrease of estrogen during menopause causes the vagina to feel dry and painful during sex. i would suggest using vaginal moisturizer rather than lubricants before sex. lubricants can be a little uncomfortable while moisturizers improves the over all health of the vagina. you can try replens, you can buy it over the counter. you use it every 3 days and it helps restore the moisture down there. you'll see the difference.

so good to hear a band of ladies experiencing the same thing! Hubby and I haven't had sex for three years as it's just way way too painful, not just to have sex but it got so every time after I'd get a bout of excrutiating cystitis-a pain I must admit I find hard to bear-I'd rather be without sex than that. I've been given pessaries and cream in the past with no effect-to be honest I'm scared to even try creams as I feel so sensitive that any moisturizers irritate and give me cystitis. I'm so small and dry inside I can't even insert a finger let alone anything..ahem...bigger! How my husband puts up with me I don't know-if he annoys me and I want to complain I remind myself of what he puts up with! Nice to read someone mentioning the fact that you never read and see about women of this age suffering-it's all oh, now the kids have grown you can have sex all the time!

hi mydogsandme, like the nick...anyway, women do experience this, most of them just feel embarrassed to talk about it, let alone admit that they suffer from vaginal issues. what creams have you used before? i heard about using vegetable oil or olive oil, or even vitamin e capsules to relieve the pain during sex, kinda like a lubricant. but as i have mentioned before this home remedies, if it does work at all, are temporary solutions, and sometimes people can get a little "icked" about it. your husband has gone the extra mile already, an extra ick won't do any good...heheheh anyway i hope you do try replens, it has helped a lot not only those who are in menopause but also those who experience vaginal dryness in general. its odor-free and color-free so it should not give you any problems down there. good luck! hope it helps you have a little fun with your hubby! :jester:

Started a new thread with the above post, with reference to the original thread. Please do not reply to a 2-year-old thread. It really slows down the server. Thank you.
