Good question. I had my lst 2 infusions on January, 4 and 5. I've read that it usually depends on how long you have had MS. It can apparently take days to months to act.

how long does it take for the ivig to start working?

I found out I had MS at the end of September of 07 and started IVIG in November and I am slowly seeing progress. Best of luck!!!!:)

Lisa, IVIG stands for intervenous immunoglobin.Its a plasma (blood) replacement therapy that specifically targets autoimmune issues. Its donor blood which is healthy and clean administered to MS patients and other patients with autoimmune disorders in order to maintain healthy antibody levels and protect against infection. Its also given to Kidney Transplant patients. I know this from reading up on it. Its terribly expensive, not many insurances will cover it and still not really used regularly for MSers; however the idea of it is catching on and IM reading more and more success stories about it.

You're right that it seems to be catching on - probably/hopefully because more insurance cos. are covering it. It IS atrociously expensive but the dosage depends on body weight, so the dollar estimates you see online are apparently for about a 350-lb. person.
