It means it will never go away, and can pop up at any given time. Usually because you are stressed. If you had been diagnosed earlier they could have given you anti-virals, which may have helped, but because you weren't, your pretty much at the diseases mercy.
I say this only from my own experience.
I was mis-diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, even after the rheumatologist knew I had tested positive for EBV in the past.

Hi Mary, majority of us have these virus's in our system. From what I am learing they can cause alot of problems. It is a herpe virus. And like most herpes virus's you may want to try a antiviral for atleast a year and see how you feel.

You can read up on Dr. Martin Lerner and Dr. Shoemaker on the net. From what I have read Dr. Lerner does treat with IV antiviral med's and has had success in riding the system of the Epstein Barr Virus.

I have the CMV and EBV virus's. My doctor is a Rhumie/internal med doctor. He has looked outside the box studing bacteria's and virus's. I have been on Valtrex and Valcyte for a little over a year now...Oh my gosh thank God for some of these researcher/doctors! I am feeling SO MUCH BETTER!

There are many ways virus's and bacteria's are looked at. Different ideas. But this is what worked for me. And I know my doctor has had great success with many of his patients.

I had gotten to the point where they were in my brain, eyes, muscles ect.

Remember the more you read about these things the better off you will be in being your own advocate.

Good Luck!

:D
