Hello
Does anyone else experience chills during the night after injecting with Rebif? I have been on Rebif for 5 years now and have only experienced it 5 times, not bad but miserable while it's happening. It usually happens about 2 hours after injection and last for about 1 hour. I guess it's mild compared to some things that could happen. My husband injects me at bedtime so usually I can sleep through it.
By the way, what a great site I have found here. So much information, sometimes I think I am the only one with this disease.

I sometimes get chills not too often.
I take motrin to alleviate the chills and flu like symptoms.
My teeth chatter... can't get warm. I put on socks extra blankets and then in about an hour and taking everything off.
Just a part of the rebif.

Heavens yes. I was on Rebif for about 3 months--middle of summer, my teeth were chattering, I was sweating but cold and wrapped in 2 down comforters and my honey for about 2 hrs. before it ended. Horrible.

Having been on Rebif for over a year now, I have never experienced chills on the drug..in the beginning, I did have the flu like symtoms which came with it, but they passed in about 4 months...
I take one aleve prior to each shot, and have never had a side effect since.

Hi, you didn't mention pre-meds. I take two Advil when I inject, and I've been on Rebif since early 04.
After I was on it for about a year, I thought I'd try injecting without any pre-med. Well, I woke up with the worst chills. I had three blankets, my robe, everything I could find. It went on for over an hour. You can be sure that's the last time I injected without the Advil.
We're all different in our responses to these drugs. I've read that many stop the pre-meds after a few months, but I guess I can't.
Try something different, some take Advil,or Aleeve or Tylenol, whatever works for you.

you hit the nail on the head. I did stop pre medicating. I was so tired of taking tylenol so I quit. I guess that is when the chills happended. It is not alot but boy they are miserable. Onward with Tylenol.;)
Thanks

Try taking ONE Aleve instead of two tylenol...its gentler on your stomache and liver and it lasts up to 12 hours, instead of 4....
Someone gave me that advice a long time ago and it really works! I only take my Aleve now when Im feeling crappy to begin with...on the days when I feel great, I dont bother and have never had a bad reaction. ITs just "insurance' that I wont..
good luck..

I second that!!
I followed Nikki's advice and take 1 aleve before (or sometimes right after, if i forget!) my shot, and haven't had any reactions other than a bit of a headache before going to sleep. I've been on Rebif since November. I keep thinking i'll skip the aleve eventually, but for now i'm sticking with what works!
good luck!!!
