View Full Version : Deviated Septum Surgery - Good or Bad?

Well I went to see my ENT again this week. He wasn't all that helpful and refused to do a CT scan on my head just because I haven't had a sinus infection in 3 months.

He did say that I should have the surgery to fix my septum. I'd like to hear from any of you that have done it, if its worth it or not?

I have a friend that had it done and she said she was miserable after the surgery and it took about a month for strange things to stop coming out of her nose and then it didn't really help in the end and I shouldn't do it.

I've been quite miserable for a long time with an eternally stuffed up nose and my right nostral is usually always clogged (which is the side my septum is deviated to). I'm rather scared of being put to sleep, even if its just quickly... so if this isn't really gonna help me all that much... I'd rather just be miserable with a stuffy nose.

Input is welcome!

It worked wonders for me. I'm glad I did it.

My mother had it done 6 months ago - she has had a lifetime of seasonal allergies. No problems with the surgery and she is really glad she did it.

i had it done 15 years ago and would go through it every year for the benifits. i started to irigate my sinus after that and the combination along with learning to breath through my nose have changed my whole life. recomend "the breathing book" by donna farsi.

my dad got it done... and yeah... for a month he kept having big surprises coming out of his nose for a while... pretty disgusting actually! however... he said its really helped him and he wouldn't take it back if he could. my doc wants me to get it done... but dunno if i want to go through that month...
