Would like to know if I can or should take both Flaxseed oil and Lovaza(formerly omacor) which is a prescription fish oil, this is what it says on bottle---1 gram omega3-acid ethyl ester liquid concentrate consisting of at least 900 mg3-acid ethyl ester, each capsule provides:Eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA) ethyl ester 465 mg., Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) ethyl ester 375 mg. Dosage 2 caps. 2 X a day. My Doctor prescribed the fish oils because of High Cholesterol I cannot take any statin drugs because of muscle pain. I also put grinded flaxseed on yogurt, cereal. Is this to much? Also take Fatigued to Fantastic multi vitamin. Thanks

I think it's OK to take Flaxseed oil caps along with the Other oil you are taking.

Flaxseed oil is an essential fatty acid --- that means you only get it by taking it -- your body does not produce it and essential fatty acids are needed by every cell in your body and for alot of other functions. Flaxseed oil contains no cholesterol.

Some Omega3 fish oils also contain essential fatty acids but I don't think the one you are taking does.

I have found it very difficult to take ground flaxseeds and determine how much of the oil I am getting daily. So, I take 2 -1000mg capsules daily along with 3 -- 1000mg of Super Omega3 fish oil by Carlson for the EPA and DHA.

I wish you well---Harry
