I hope to find some answers with what I have come to realize is Perimenopause. Right before the holidays I suddenly felt depressed, had no interests, anxiety and severe panic attacks. thought I was dying. working in the mental health field I asked our psychiatrist and he said it sounded like hormone imbalance. No...I was not going insane and would not. the past few days have been pretty good. Once in a while my thoughts wonder, anxiety sets in and it disappears. I had my last period early December. Before that I can't remember because it is a HIT AND MISS situation for me for almost a year now. I will be 51 next month. I just want to feel like it did before all this happened. Can this happen overnight like it did for me?
I am seeing a new woman Gyn on the 25th and hoping that I can tell her my symptoms and she can help me.
I do take a womens complete vitamin formula now for 1 week and I think it has helped some. It has alot of herbs in it including Black Cohash.
Anyone who can relate to what I am feeling(and happening so quickly) would greatly be appreciated.

Hi Lynnv57,
Anything is possible, these symptoms might have been coming on slow and you just didn't see it too. Glad you are seeing a woman gyn as I think they can relate better. I would recommend taking a fish, flax and borage pills. I was having very bad panic attacks and anxiety when a friend recommended them and they have made a huge difference for me. I noticed they helped me sleep better also. I too felt like I was going crazy. I did end up going on a HRT for over two years and have just weaned off them (of course the night sweats and hot flashes came back:rolleyes:) but really want to try and go without the HRT. Just know that you are not alone and you have found a great place to get answers and just vent sometimes. :D Hope this helps.
Julie;)

Hi I C Hot,
Thanks for the reply. I will look into Fish, Flax and Borage pills. I was taking Fish Oil pills for awhile, but stopped all of them thinking they may have been the cause of this.
Today I feel good. Just keep wondering WHY I don't feel like I used to...Even being down about something or bored I never had anything like this! I love the outdoors but sometimes I feel at times I am not me at all in some way.
At least I get out of bed and find things to do rather than nothing at all. I would rather deal with the Hot Flashes than this part of it!

you need to recognise that it's all part and parcel of menopause. i found it helpful just to come here and vent, knowing that we all understand. so, you've taken the first step by posting here. and know too, that it will all end one day and you'll feel good again (oh yes you will!!).

Thank You Liverpool Sue...
Took a little walk just now, bought some soy milk to start(heard it is good for menopause) and some fruit. I do not eat right..
sometimes I just think I will not feel like I did before this came along.

Hi, I agree with Liverpool Sue, this is a great place to vent, that alone has helped me a great deal.
As for the soy milk, for me it makes my hot flashed worse. But really hope you find something that helps you. Take care,

One moment I feel normal(like myself) and the next anxiety/depression hit. I want just to crawl somewhere till it all ends. I do keep busy. I am not lazy as my family will tell you.
Tuesday just put my 13 year old cat to sleep. I was amazed that all I did was cry but did not go into depression. Actually I think the crying helped.
I do not sleep well. sometimes it takes me 1-almost 2 hours to fall asleep. On weekends I sleep from 12-sometimes almost 9, but am tired later. Feel fatigued most of the day.
Venting and reading is good for me. I usually feel a little better.

I don't have the hot flashes. Right now I am very cold jsut sitiing here.
Most of my symptoms are psychological I think. some physical too.

Let me say I am sorry you had to put your cat to sleep. The crying would help me there too. Our animals are a very important part of daily life, they can sometimes help to keep me out of the depression feeling. Depression can come on that easy some days. The hormone roller Coaster has good days and bad ones. I am glad you have found this board to be able to discuss stuff and vent. I am currently dealing with lots of fatigue, and not sure if it is hormonal or thyroid. Like you, I am also cold a lot of the time. I use a heating blanket when first going to bed as it helps me go to sleep sooner but then the night sweats have me removing the covers later. Well it helps me to know I am not alone here and this to shall pass. Just wish it would pass sooner then later. LOL.
