Hello everyone,

I usually post on the TMJ board but I have been under a lot of stress lately and it has been made been made worse by my TMJ or maybe it is the other way round. I now suffer from constant anxiety and cannot seem to be able to bring it under control. I am totally against medications, I don't even take pain-killers.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend any CBT self-help books. I have heard many success stories with CBT and would like to try it for myself. We don't have CBT therapists where I live and would love to give it a shot.

THanks a lot everyone,..

I'm sorry no one has replied to you yet. I'm familiar with Jeffrey Schwartz's book, Brain Lock.
It's a CBT book about actually helping you to change your brain chemistry and is mostly regarding OCD-but I think it could be helpful to you.
I hope someone else jumps in.....

Been There, Done That? Now Do This! by Sam Obitz is supposed to be the best.

The book that has been the most helpful is Feeling Good by David M. Burns M.D. It focuses on depression but he does have one that focuses on anxiety. I'm not sure of the title. I have not read it but I think this author makes CBT really easy to do on your own and it has really helped me. My therapist copied some pages for me and I just loved it so I bought it myself, it's like $8 and has a ton of info.
