Hi, I'm a newbie to this site. I'm 50 years old. I stopped taking triphasic birth control pills on October 27 2007. I had a period on Nov. 2. and discontinued taking birth control pills for 1 month in order to take an FSH test which I later learned isn't always a good predictor of menopause for everyone. Prior to this time, I hadn't had any hot flashes since June 2006. I had flashes for a few days and then they went away. I did take some Estroven. I'm not sure if this helped or not.
Beginning in January 2008, I started experiencing daily horrifyingly intense hot flashes at 2 hour intervals. You can practically set your watch by the regularity of the flashes. My Gyne switched me to monophasic birth control pills, but the hot flashes still persist. This is really a very scary experience. If anyone has suggestions on what to do, I'd welcome them. I'm becoming really anxious anticipating the flashes every 2 hours.

if you can live with them for now, they will settle down and become less frequent. when mine started, they were coming every 15 minutes. you could try some of the supplements recommended for hot flashes, they don't work for everyone but some ladies do swear by them. try not to get worried by them too, anxiety and stress do make them worse. remember that most women go through all this and come out the other side, it just has to be lived through, and remember it's a natural process not an illness - difficult at times i know. when all this stuff starts, it really does take you by surprise, but you get used to it, and used to dealing with it too. best of luck.

Hi, When my hot flashed were at there worse I was having 6-15 or so an hour so try and hang in there. It sure isn't fun. I did find hot drinks such as coffee made them worse. The night sweats are awful keeping me awake far to much. Take care,
Julie;)
