Apply ice bag to area and keep foot elevated as much as possible.

I agree with dancing feet, I also took ibruprofen to help with the swelling for two days after the surgery and then 7 weeks later for my ankle when I started walking. As I didn't walk much for the first six weeks, I didn't have much swelling, so it was always elevated and I didnt need to take anything. The only tiem I iced was when it throbbed and the nerves kept twitching. My foot was wrapped in a bandage and was compressed.
