I had a bunionectomy and chilectomy (sp?) in November 2006. For the past two months, I've been having a weird feeling in my foot from time to time, right in the area where the surgery was. If I step in the wrong way, I get a crunching sensation, or a sensation like someone is snapping a rubber band on the inside of my foot. It is hard to describe but very annoying and can be painful. Does anyone have any idea what this is? Scar tissue maybe?

I'm just bumping this post up to the top to see if anybody has any ideas... I'll be going to the doctor next week to find out what the problem is. It's very annoying and now, on top of the weird sensation, my foot is getting swollen every time I don't have it elevated. It's been 18 months since my surgery and my foot hasn't swollen like this for at least 9 months!

Have you asked your surgeon about that?

I'm glad you brought up this topic. I just had a very frustrating appointment with my pod today. Even though I am only 3 months post op, I too have an issue with swelling and return pain issues. I'd like to have a better answer than the one I got..."Let's just wait and see what happens." In my opinion, considering it *is* my foot, I'd like to know if there is a problem that needs to be fixed, then fix it...I'm not one for the wait-and-see attitude. If anyone has any suggestions, let us know.

If you have been fine all along and suddenly you are feeling pain or weird sensation and swelling...my guess is something new has happened and it is not from the surgery... because you are feeling it where the surg was may only mean that -that area is more prone to injury that the rest of the foot.
Or another possibility is .. if you had pins or screws that stayed in something has shifted out of place.. could account for a weird feeling and swelling..It is good you are going to see your doc as he/she will be able to tell best.

i also think something new has happened. you may have a build up of scar tissue, but i dont think that would cause all that pain.
