Are you currently taking any prescription medications? If so, some can cause side effects of extreme fatigue. I was sleeping up to 20 hours a day while taking a diuretic...other blood pressure medications caused similar (but not as severe) side effects for me.

Thyroid issues, depression, and many other conditions can cause extreme fatigue. Whatever the cause, you need to see a doctor about this as it is not normal.

Take care and let us know what you how you are.

You need to see a MD. Talk with them about your drug regime if you have any and if not get a referral to a sleep specialist. They can rule out or confirm a sleep issue the best. If it is not a sleep issue they will most likely point you where you need to look next. Thyroid health would be my first check.. then heart and depression. Either way this is not normal and not good. For some reason you are not getting restorative sleep and your body is supressing your function as a result. You need to seek MD help ASAP.

Sincerely,
MG

hey zebra,
do you mean you literally sleep 36 hours straight? That's a day and a half, and that is certainly something I would run to a doctor about! Do you wake up after that much sleep still feeling tired? Do you have any other symptoms? Have you been tested for anything previously, such as thyroid or a vitamin deficiency?

I hope that you will find answers. Keep us posted!
