The combination should be very effective. The ARBs have the least amount of adverse events and side effects of all the BP meds. With Telmisartan, the most common are: Upper respiratory tract infection Back pain Sinusitis Diarrhea Pharyngitis (Compared to some other BP meds this is amazing!) HCT is fantastic for lowering BP but can effect your electrolytes (sodium, chlorides, magnesium, and particularly potassium.)... Make sure you add some potassium rich foods to your diet to keep your potassium levels normal. Everyone knows about bananas being a good source but there are many more to choose from, some of which might appeal to you even more! Here's a GREAT list: [removed] Presumably after a couple of weeks on Micardis HCT your doctor will want to take a blood test to make sure there is no electrolyte depletion. Side effects would be weakness, fatigue, thirst, dizziness or lightheadedness. zuzu xxx scootch 10-09-2003, 08:29 PM Thanks for the input. I've been on the Micardis for about a week and the only side effect so far has been a slight backache. My blood pressure has gone to a high normal 130/80.I feel much better. |
