View Full Version : abnormal BP

I am a 20 year old female who has been having a very strange blood pressure pattern. Two weeks ago, my boyfriend who is training to be an EMT was taking my blood pressure. When he took my blood pressure it was 90/70. I found this odd because I usually have a very normal blood pressure but I really didn’t think much of it at the time. The next week he took it again and it was 120/70. Then yesterday (a week after the last reading) I went to give blood and they rejected me because my blood pressure was 80/50. Again today I had my bp read by the school nurse and I was 122/78.
I found it very odd that my bp would raise that much in one day.
I have found myself to be very dizzy lately and I have been seeing spots. The spots get so bad sometimes that I cannot read something that is right in front of me because there are spots blocking the words. Also, I am not sure if this is related but since I was about 14 I sometimes get these crushing pains in my chest in which after I feel like I need to grasp for air. My heart right after this pain will start to flutter quickly. It usually goes away after about 5 minutes but it has lasted as long as a half hour. I have only passed out once in my life, and it was extremely hot in the room that I was in. Does anyone know what coud be causing all of this? Thank you very much.
-Alicia from NY

Hi..

Pls schedule an appt with ur doctor..and thrash this issue out with him..get a BP monitoring machine and measure ur BP & pulse rate 4-5 times a day for a week , record any symptoms u may have with time & date..and share it with ur doctor..Low blood pressure is easy to manage and is not so worrisome..but u have to resolve the pain issue it could be a harmless non cardiac symptom but u need to know..
