View Full Version : A Medication CAUSING asthma?

Has anyone ever heard of a medication causing someone to develop asthma?

I am on a Beta Blocker (for HBP) - Toprol -- and I was reading where it should not be given to someone that has asthma - I was diagnosed with mild asthma around the same time that I was started on the Toprol --

Can a beta blocker CAUSE an otherwise health person to GET asthma - or would it just exacerbate it if you already had asthma?

Thank you so much for any help you can give me - I am scared....

Thanks

Beta blockers don't CAUSE asthma but they (and several other medications) can increase asthma symptoms in people who already have asthma.

Thank you so much for your response - that was exactly what I needed to know.

God bless.
