I just dont know what's going on. It seems like Im going through menopause but Im only 36 and still am getting regular periods. To be honest I hope I am going through menopause because then at least I know that its something specific and not just me losing the plot. Im too scared to go to the doctor in case it could be something else, something bad. If I explain my symtoms can someone please help me to confirm what is going on? Hot flushes, mainly at night and not very often, just wake up and I am completely drenched in sweat. Irratabilty, this is one of the worst I think, for no reason I just get completely ticked off over the most trival things and deep feelings of anger. Bloating, Im quite slim yet sometimes look as if Im about 8 months pregnant, this is not an exageration. My breasts are larger. The worst though, and this is whtat has bought me here out of sheer desperation, depression. I have become so unbelievably depressed and have feelings of impending doom and paranioa, I get weepy and lately have had feelings that my husband no longer loves me, even though he insists that he does. Im sorry, I know you have probably heard all this before but I really think Im losing my mind. Is this the symptoms of menopause I should I see a psychiatrist?

I have recently been suffering the same things you describe, I am 44 and had surgery to remove ovarian cysts aged 34. I think you need to go and chat to a sympathetic doctor and possibly have a complete blood profile to rule out other stuff, such as thyroid trouble which can mimic other hormonal imbalances.
I doubt you are going nuts, just all the fun of being female most likely so try not to worry and go and see the doctor!

Welcome Sam1971,
I too am new to the board and I also am having the same mental issues you are. I think for the first time I felt a Hot Flash last night and then it was gone! I started with depression about mid December and then anxiety and panic attacks followed. Thought it might have been the holidays but I still have depression like a roller coaster ride. I do however get up every morning for work hoping I will feel better. Sometimes I feel awesome and then all of a sudden I feel lousy. I used to be excited about everyday no matter what I had planned. That feeling is faint to me. I will be 51 next month.
I will be going to a woman Gyn the 25th and hope to have some answers. I sometimes feel that the world around me is just great and fine but that I am in some kind of a fog. Does this happen to you?

I agree, you just need to go in and talk with the Dr. maybe have a blood test to rule out other stuff. Information is your best tool. If you don't go in then you will spend to much time worrying, and it could be a simple thing to take care of. If it is perimenopausal then you can start looking for something that helps you. I also recommend talking a fish, flax, and borage pill, it really helped me with my panic attacks and anxiety I was having. You are not alone with these symptoms and found a great place to ask questions and vent. Take care, Julie;)

I sit here and read this with great emotion and tears in my eyes, I feel for you Sam, I have been going through this for 4 years and recently the symptoms are so much worse.
I am more depressed and so frightened of the feeling of dis-association, feeling like I am really losing my mind, very scary..
I also used to look forward th the day no matter what it was and now I fear the days because I wake up in the same state of mind, I know this will end but it is terrifically hard to get through. I can have a good day to start with and by 4 o'clock I am tired and want to lay down for the rest of the day and night.
I started walking again last night with my daughter and it was nice although very cold, and I just know I must do it for my health and my mind, maybe that would help, if you are not already getting exercise and I know it is so hard to get the motivation to take 5 steps somedays...
Hang in there my thoughts and prayers are with all of you ladies in the same menopause boat:)

Me too - same symptoms. I am 40 and about a year ago I started to feel HORRID with dizziness, fatigue, headaches, insomnia, seasickness, mental fogginess, etc. I felt like I had some terrible disease 24/7. I recently started taking bioidentical estradiol gel called "Elestrin" and I have my life back! It isn't perfect, I still have some down days, but it is SOOO much better. It is amazing and very unhealthy what low estrogen (estradiol) levels can do to our bodies.
If I were you, I would see an OB/GYN doc, try the estradiol gel and see what happens. Our bodies NEED IT! That is why we feel like we are dying when we don't have it or it is extremely low.
