Hi

If anyone had taken Effexor, I would like to know how they had wean off this medication. When I first took Effexor, I had some 'weird dizzy feelings'. I dont know how to describe it, its not like the room is spinning. I want to get off this medicine without going through that again.

Hi,
I haven't weaned off anything, as of yet, but from what I understand, it's just a slow decline of the med.
Like, cutting it in half for a week, then possibly a quarter, etc....
That way it gives your body time to adjust nice & slow.
It's the quitting "cold turkey" that throws your body into an imbalance, I believe.
Best of luck....

You should check with your doctor on how to wean off the meds. I was on 150mg of effexor a day and had the same dizziness when I first went on it. It then spread to daily migraines for over 7 months. I was weaned off of it by first decreasing the amount to 75, then to I think 30, for two weeks each and then I took the last pills every other day for a month? I still felt funny from the pills for awhile, but the after effects eventually passed. I then tried Celexa which was much easier to go on, but then I got the same crazy headaches. Good luck, hope you find something that works better for you! The side effects were worse for me that the anxiety itself. :)
