My son will be 1 next week. The past few weeks he's been going through a very whiny phase. He whines over everything! Even if he just drops a toy or falls on his butt. And he's been crying for my husband and me lot lately. I know it's just a phase and it hasn't really bothered me 'til last night and today. I think he's getting his eyeteeth so he hasn't been sleeping or napping very good. He woke up last night about 12:30 crying. I went in and gave him some milk and some Motrin and rocked him for about 10 minutes just to comfort him then layed him down. He started crying so I picked him back up and rocked him for about 20 minutes 'til I thought the Motrin had kicked in. I could see him blinking so I knew he was still awake but I layed him down anyway and patted his butt for a few minutes 'til he stopped fussing. As soon as I started to leave his room he started crying again. I left the room and figured he'd stop crying after a few minutes. He screamed and cried for about 20-25 minutes before he finally cried himself to sleep. What am I supposed to do with him? I tried to put him down for a nap this afternoon and as soon as I layed him down he started screaming. He's so tired!! I don't know what's wrong. Does anyone have any advice?!

Motrin is a anti-inflammatory so that is the best choice. I would keep that up and give it to him a half an hour before nap and bedtime. (Tylenol is just a pain reducer) Unfortunately, the pressure in his mouth is going to be worse laying down. But....the good news is they are probably have been budding (which is the most painful,) as they break through the pain should be gone. You are probably very close to that!!!. My kids LOVED popscicles at that time. We would even give them the frozen ice push-ups unopened and have them gnaw on that. I hope this is over soon for you. Sleep deprivation is the worse form of torture in my book:D

lay him on a pillow or raise his mattress slightly so that he isn't laying completely flat when you lay him down. we bought a large stuffed animal frog for my little girl to lay on at around a year old because she was cutting her 1 year molars and had he** at night sleeping! another thing to try is teething tablets. give him a dose at the same time you give the motrin. the teething tablets start working almost immediately and will last at least as long as it takes the motrin to kick in. :)
