My 5 1/2 month old daughter has recently begun spitting up over the last few days. I'm just wondering what's up. We recently started her on oatmeal, so do you think this has something to do with it? Also, I bought a can of Parent's Choice Soy formula (because money was tight). I thought this was basically the same stuff as the Isomil Soy. We have WIC and get the Isomil with this, but it's never enough so we end up buying a few cans. She has never spit up before, which is why it's baffling to me now. She's not fussy, so I don't think it's a tummy ache. Does anyone have any thoughts?

There are a few things it could be. It could be the sudden formula change, even though it's soy based, there are minute differences and it could upset her tummy. It could be the oatmeal or it could just be a bug. Try stopping the oatmeal for awhile and see if it gets better, if not, it's something else. Once you get her back on the Isomil, it may get better. It's probably nothing to be TERRIBLY concerned with, but I would want to find the cause if I were you. Good luck.

My DS is 5 months and has recently started this too. I am blaming the excess saliva from his teething. I haven't switched formulas and sometimes he does it a long while after a bottle. He also puts his hands in his mouth often and I think that sometimes he is actually gagging himself. I would not worry too much unless she has other symptoms.

I have a funny feeling it has something to do with the formula. I'm buying a can of the Isomil tomorrow. It's so weird...she's just really "belchy". Sometimes it's just a burp with nothing coming up, sometimes with stuff. I feel rather spoiled because she has RARELY spit up since birth. I'm going to lay off the oatmeal and adjust her back to just the Isomil. What do you think?

I think that's a good plan, just be prepared for it to take up to 2 weeks for her symptoms to go away, as it can take that long for the other formula to get completely out of her system. I hope she feels better soon.
