Does anyone out there get cold sweats???? I had the weirdest "flash" of a cold sweat the other night, it lasted less than 5 minutes. I have never had this happen before and it scared me.....I got nauseated and had a rush of cold sweats and then it was over........Anyway, let me know if you have had this same thing happen....This perimenopause thing is making me crazier than I was before!!

CrazyLife414,

Yes, I used to have "cold flashes" before I upped my dosage of hormones. I think it's just one of those wonderful (ahem!) ways that the body has of attempting to cope when the hormones are going haywire.

Thanks Rheanna..I have to say that it really did scare me pretty badly because of everything that you hear about heart disease and heart attacks being different in women. I have had some of my friends say that it has happened to them too, but most of my friend do the "hot" sweat thing...I have not had those yet...

Anyway, thanks!

Hello! I am new to the boards and saw the cold sweat thing. I have cold flashes... I have never been one to be to cold, but it seems that I am continually having these. I do notice that when I am close to my cycle starting I have sweats... more of a clammy feeling.
I am needing a little encouragement today that I'm not losing it... I keep reading on the boards about women who have the jittery trembling thing.... this has been happening to me and it makes me feel so uneasy. It is so hard to concentrate on anything. I am 37 years old and have now seen 4 doctors. Had every test run and am as healthy as can be. (hormones, show that I am not in menopause, thyroid is fine) The idea of being in perimenopause has been dismissed by the doctors with them saying I am to young, and that there is no real way to know if that is what is going on. My mother was the same age as I am when she began having problems. When I compare my symptoms to that of perimenopause, they fit to a tee. I just wanted to know if any of you have had problems with getting a doctor to recognize your symptoms. I would so appreciate hearing from any of you!!
Thanks!

Hi T1988 and welcome:)
i had the exact same trouble with my GP,i have also seen many other Dr's including a neurologist, and all my tests came back clear, they included blood tests MRI,CT scans and spinal tap, this is all over the last 3 years it was'nt until last September(i think might have been October lol)when i went to visit my GP because i had missed 2 periods out of 5 that he said menopause,i dont think i am in meno as i have had periods since then but i am sure i am peri, the symptoms are all ther in black and white and you can't imagin you have a symptom you either do or you dont i think i have about 25-29 of them not all at the same time thankfully but they are all there,i think you know yourself and your body well enough to know what is going on you might try to print of the symptom list and take it with you on your next vist to your GP and state to Him/Her witch ones you are experienceing that way they may be able to help. good luck to you
keep well

T1988..you are not loosing it...well if you are then so am I, so you're not alone;)
This whole thing is crazy, up until about 4 years ago my period was as regular as clockwork, the only time I ever missed a period was when I was pregnant. I never had a day of PMS or missed a day of work because of my period.

From Nov. 30 to Jan 4 I had 4 periods...

Now I don't know when it will start or end for that matter, I am moody and have nasty anxiety. I feel nauseated and my GERD has gotten so much worse. I bleed like I have been stabbed for days at a time. I have not had hot flashes yet, but I get the cold flashes and then last week had the cold sweat thing going on, it was right about the time I was suppossed to ovulate (which seems to be a bad time for me). I have brain fog and would forget my own name half of the time. I guess I could go on for days.
My doctor says that perimenopause is a "phase" that all women have to go through, but he really doesn't think there is anyway to tell until your period stops.
I truly think I am going crazy sometimes!!!

So know that you are not alone, and Take Care of You!!!!

Thank you all so much for responding to me. I am having a crappy day so far. So much anxiety... it seems that right before my cycle it gets really bad. I have a wonderful husband, who is so understanding... but he has the flu right now and I just can't overwhelm him with this stuff. One of the doctors I saw gave me a prescription for an anti-anxiety med. I haven't taken one since last week, but had to this morning. It seems that the mornings are a complete mess for me, though the past 3 days have been a whole day affair. I am taking some supplemental vitamins and herbs to help balance out my hormones, but today it feels as if nothing is helping. I don't understand the whole estrogen/progesterone thing. I just want to be a good mom and wife. This is so overwhelming and it robs me of the things I love most. I hope it will get better!!! I am a pretty outgoing person, and since this all started back in October, I haven't been able to really get out there and be with my friends. I have faith, it just seems to be being tested right now!! Thank you again for writing. It is an encouragement to me that you took the time to listen!!!

Many Blessings !!!!

I totally get it...Not only am I having peri symptoms, I also have GERD and a suspected hiatal hernia which give me fits like you will not believe. That is how this whole thread started because I had the cold sweats and got nauseated. I was never one to be really cold, but now you just look at me wrong and I freeze to death!
My husband travels for his job,so he is really never home and when he is he is trying to rest and get ready to leave again. I 2 beautiful children, mornings suck at my house. Get everybody ready and out the door for school and then I have to get ready for work. I work for 2 really great OBGYNs, but they both think that perimenopause is a normal phase and that there is no way to tell what the real problem is because until you stop your period, your hormones don't show being wacko....Well I am going to tell you, my hormones ARE wacko and I still have a period!
My kid want their Mom back, my husband wants me to have a psych eval, my Mom says I have way too much stress in my life....
Having said all of this, hang in there!!! We will fight this thing together!!
Take Care of you!!!

Dear CrazyLife,
Thanks!!!!!!!!! I am going back to see my doctor on Thursday. I am hoping we can come up with something to get some balance. I spoke with her by phone and we discussed progesterone cream and possibly birth control pills. I have wanted to do this completely natural, but I have got to get back to some kind of normal. Maybe there is a way to do both. I have 2 wonderful children also and I am not sure if they know that I am feeling horrible, but I know that I am and I want to be there for them. That seems to be one of the greatest stresses that I put on myself.
Have you tried anything to get the hormones under control?
I appreciate you being so kind. It is amazing that so many women suffer from this, (and I think suffer is a mild term) and there aren't more answers out there.
I will be thinking of you tomorrow morning as I get up and get my kids ready and myself for work.... I'll lift a prayer that you will have some peace!!!
Blessings!

Hi T~
What part of KS are you from, my husbands family is in Kingman.
I have tried BC pills, did not work really well for me, it caused me to gain weight and a spike in blood pressure. I started Prozac a couple of weeks ago, I am not sure if it is working or not, they say it takes about 4 weeks to see a difference. I have always been very against anything like this, but I think that at this point I am willing to try anything.
The natural progesterone creams are suppossed to be awsome....I have not tried them yet
I am like you, I really wanted to deal with this whole thing naturally... But I think I am going to have to fight back with both guns so that it doesn't kick my bottom;)
Well, I am off to bed, try and get some sleep and be bright eyed and bushy tailed for tomorrow!!
Thank you for all of the support and kind words.....

Bless you and your family,
Crazy

Dear CrazyLife,
I am from Arkansas City. How funny that we have a Kansas connection. I know what you mean about fighting with both guns. This is just the craziest think ever. I have dealt with some anxiety issues in the past and went through a successful program and got amazing results. Up until October I had not had a panic attack in almost 2 years. I learned how to deal with stress and anxiety. This seems to be a completely different thing. I did start back on some anti-anxiety meds yesterday. I hate taking them. But I have got to survive right now. I'm sure you can relate with just wanting your life back. I do believe that all things happen for a reason and that there will be a good outcome. It is just getting through this season... I want so badly for my doctor to have some advice for me tomorrow... but I just don't know if that is a realistic thought. From some things I've read it is a good idea to start out with progesterone cream before BC pills. So maybe she will do that.
Do you have any nausea with your symptoms? That is one of my big ones. About 3 years ago I began to gain weight. About 30 pounds.... Since this all got started and the nausea took over.. I have lost 30 lbs. That happened between October and November. I now have stayed pretty steady with my weight. Though, when I do get close to my cycle I begin the whole nausea process over and have a terrible time eating...
I hope you have a wonderful day... you are in my prayers!!!
Blessings!

Hi T~
Good Luck at the doctors tomorrow! I look forward to what she tells you. I think I like the idea of the progesterone cream because you are rubbing it in a specific spot vs. taking pills which go through your whole body. My doctor told me that I need to be taking at least 2 TBSP of flax seed oil every morning as well as Omega 3's. I also take Calcium/Magnesium, that is supposed to help with the anxiety. I hope the Prozac starts working soon.
I have been really working on a morning routine with my kids so that we can have calm mornings, I think that might help me to not stress so much in the morning. My kids are 9 and 5 so it gets wild at my house, but I am hoping if I can get my hormones under control then maybe it will calm down around here.
I am getting ready to go into the PMS time of my month, and it always scares me because that is when I start getting the worst of my symptoms. I feel like my month spirals from there.
I will say a prayer that your appt goes well!
Take Care of you!

Dear CrazyLife,
I totally understand the PMS time. That is also when my symptoms get really bad. Usually the 5 - 7 days before my cycle I am a total mess. My period started on time this month and I am amazed!! I always feel like a totally different person once that happens... ( i actually feel normal... even though lingering in the back of my mind is how long do I have before it begins again) I am so hopeful that progesterone will be of help. I keep reading about it and that if you will make diet changes, add excercise and take a good supplement it will make a world of change. I don't like getting my hopes up too much, but I am praying that this is it!!
I will be praying for you and that you will not have as hard of a time this month. It is such a roller coaster ride isn't it!!! I check the boards each day, so please write if you need encouragement!!!!
I know that there is an end to all the crazy hormones we are going through. We are on the right track and we just have to keep believing that it is going to get better!!!!
Many Blessings!!!

HI there,

About the only thing I've not had it seems is hot sweats or flushes. And I'm not complaining.

But I do get sometimes get this weird feeling that runs through my body, not at all unpleasant, but then I suddenly get cold. So I figure in order to feel cold I must've felt hot.

First got them about 6 years ago, and they'd gone. Then a few months ago they started up again, only occasionally. But interesting as my anxiety has also come back, so must be all to do with the good old female hormones.

Jude

I really feel like I am falling apart....I am only 45....sometimes I feel like I am 95..

Hi Crazy,

Doesn't it help knowing others have same issues as yourself.

I've also had bouts of nausea, not too bad, thank goodness.
But mine was mainly in the mornings, and I'd feel revolting. Would come on after breakfast and hover for a few hours then disappear.

I'm 54 and feel 154 - Remember and this too will pass!!!
Good we can stick together,

Jude
