View Full Version : Extraction whilst in agony

I was due to have an upper back tooth removed a year ago, but chickened out due to fear and the fact it had stopped hurting According to charts it is my 2nd Bicuspid, I have no wisdom teeth.

It has now been a good few weeks that the pain has been unbelievable, I had a course of antibiotics three weeks ago and the pain has not gone -I am due to have it removed this afternoon -can this be done while I am still suicidal from the pain?? Or will I have to have yet more antibiotics?

I am mentally and physically wrecked from the constant unrelenting pain - prescription painkillers/nurofen+/solpadeine and alcohol just take the edge off for a few hours. I haven't had an unbroken nights sleep for over a month, I just want the tooth gone

I am sooo sorry for you. I am currently going through the exact same thing.

I took 2 rounds of antibiotics and what seems like every pain killer available. Nothing helped the pain, just knocked the edge off like you said. Never tried the alcohol though.

My regular denist tried to remove my tooth last week after 3 weeks of pure agony. The tooth would not budge. Something about roots beings wrapped around bones.

I met with an oral surgeon yesterday who will remove it next week. He knows that I am in pain and scheduled to extraction.

He did recommend that I do the IV Sedation since I have already been suffering so much. He alos siad that antibiotics would not help and that if they did, he would be able to buy people some time by perscribing them.

Good luck and let me know how it goes. This will be my 1st extraction.

Well the sodding tooth is out -my first extraction too. I am quite depressed about it, but hopefully no more pain, and the gap can't be seen. I so feel your pain -the agony is indescribable. My stomach is in bits tonight, from all the tablets I have ingested. I worked myself up into a complete state, needlessly I might add. One yank and the tooth was out, thank god.

I feel sorry that you have to wait a WHOLE WEEK? One more night of agony and I probably would have overdosed....poor poor you.

Thanks for letting me know.

It gives me hope that this will soon be over for me too.

I am sooo happy for you and hope you can get the must needed rest you deserve tonight.

I know what you mean about the meds and your stomach. Been there done that too.

Take care and keep me updated as to how you are the day after and all.

Hey, just checking to see how you are doing.

I finally have my tooth extracted tomorrow. Is there anything that I need to know?

Not much that you need to know. But a lot that the dentist needs to know.

You should be informed of the risks and benefits before you allow any dentist to do anything for you. And you should know the reasons why a procedure is recommended before you make a decision to go with it. That is particularly true with tooth extractions.
Good luck. I hope it goes well...

Please Help!!!:(

I had a molar removed about five days ago and my stitches fell out last night! I thought that everything would be fine and then the incision opened-up and started bleeding and causing some horrible and unbearable pain! My dilemma is that it is early on Sunday morning so I can't get in to see the oral surgeon who extracted the molar until Monday! Should I go into a quick care or ER or should I wait until Monday?

WHAT SHOULD I DO????

have you got a emergancy number you can ring up for advice?
or go to the ER.probably nothing to worry about ,just keep it clean ,until you go back tomorrow get a clean handkerchief or cotton wool wet it so its hard and bite on it ,if blood keeps pouring

good luck
