Hi all.

Today is the day I am officially leaving the clinical trial I have been in for the past 2 1/2 yrs. That was the CombiRx trial. For those of you unfamiliar with this trial it is the one testing weither Avonex and Copaxone in combination work better than either alone. I have decided to leave this trial due to a major relapse a month or so ago. My neuro. felt that the treatment was not working for me and asked if I would consider a different trial. After a couple of weeks I decided that I would.

Today I am going in for my final MRI and other testing which will complete this study for me. Then it is 3 months off of all med's. Hopefully no relapses during this time. Upon the completion of the 3 month 'purge' I am to begin the trial for fingolimod. The trial last's 2 yrs. I have a one in three chance of recieving the 'real thing'. One either gets .5 mg or 1.25 mg or placebo once a day. Its administered orally...yay!

If any one is interested go to clinical trials .gov The identifier is: NCT00355134 The trial is still recruiting.

Hi Mitch. Bet your scared of the 'what ifs" arent you? I would be...but as Cyprian said, Thank you for being able to do this...Im not able to get on any of the trials which I have tried to get on, due to having had so many other, NON related MS issues recently....but I appreciate you and what you are doing.
I dont think you are going to relapse during the 3 month period...your too good a person to let that happen...but do what you can to stay strong- get lots of rest...stay hydrated and keep doing exactly what you have been doing and lets hear how it goes..
God bless you for all you are to us..

Mitch, Sorry to hear about your other trial not working and having a major relapse. I have been in the fingloimod (FTY720) trial now for 4 months and still not sure if I am on the right stuff or not. But, hoping that you do get the right med and that it works.

I ran a posting thread a few months back here on my FTY720 experiences, it will be interesting to hear yours when you start. Keep up the spirit
