Hi all.....I am 43 and have been having peri symptoms for 4 years now. My biggest problem now is heavy and prolonged bleeding. I have had my period since Thanksgiving with only one week off. Several of those days extremely heavy....I couldn't leave the house. I have taken two courses of Provera,I have had an endometrial biopsy (fine) and ultrasounds that show a small cyst on my left ovary. I am also slightly anemic and take meds for thyroid. My doctor is recommending birth control pills. I am torn between waiting it out (I am thinking I am close to done) or taking the pill. I haven't taken the pill for over 20 years and am wondering about side effects and especially weight gain, I have already gained 50 lbs over the last 4 years.

Is anyone taking Birth contol pills for peri problems/bledding and are they working.....or any other suggestions???

grrrr this menopause stuff stinks.....but am happy to have these boards.
