Hi, i was at work and fell in an ice storm,(twice). i had a herniaded disc, resting on my scaitic nerve. the pain was overwhelming. I tired thearpy, it made it worse. My boss was very rude and mad. we had 4 inches of ice, we should have not been working outside that day. anyways i could not walk for 6 months. i had a lower lumber discoptmy. and now its been 4-5 months . i have back pain constantly, every minute. my doctor told me i have degerintive arthritis in my back where the operation had taken place. Im only 34!!. workmans comp had paided me, they never fought. im steadily getting worse says my doctor. now i need to see a pain managment doctor. will i be with a cane in 10 years? what kind of settlement will i get? should i get a lawyer? i tried to contact one, they said if workmans comp is fighting me then yes. but they never fought. what do i do? my back is for the rest of my life now. my job, i feel is responsible. i went back to work a few months ago. and im still on light duty. help. i need some advice. thank you for listening.

O.... so sorry sweetie.... Tell me, did you get yourself a lawyer? You must do that!! Don't pay attention what your WC tell you, they don't treat people fair, this is a well knowing fact. I read sometimes here how people get treated by them when they have to leave in pain - nobody cares, they care about protecting themselves and their money.
I feel for you, but you need to protect yourself and your future: you never know if you need future surgeries and treatments, you don't know if you can go back to work or not - go and talk to a lawyer, please.
You will do a big favor to yourself.
((((( )))))) to you.

IMO workman comp has never been fair! Get an attorney or you will lose out. I was injuried in 2001 and a few months later returned to work. Injuried again in 2002 and sent back to work in pain. Been off work since 2003 and had surgery in 2005. Need additional surgery and insurance still stalling. Oh they paid from 2004 until now every two weeks and offer a 6 figure settlement, but that it not enough. You probably need a second or third opinion on what is going on. The workman comp insurance is working for your employer, not you. The doctors you see answer directly to the insurance company. Get an attorney and get a second opinion from a doctor outside the W/C ins. group. Good Luck.
