I am a 21 year old female and for the past couple of years have been getting more and more gray hairs. I have been following a strict vegan diet for over 7 years and am wondering if this could be due to a vitamin B12 deficiency. I take supplements, but I'm still getting grays. Are there any other types of deficiencies that cause premature graying?? (I'm hoping this is reversible, and not just genetic :-/) Also, every once and a while I will have this constant feeling of being hungry.. even if my stomach is full, I still have that shaky feeling associated with hunger. Could this be signaling a vitamin deficiency??
Lastly, has anyone ever tried the black-strap molasses remedy for gray hairs??

Gray hairs can be caused by a B12 deficiency. Given your vegan diet, you should definitely have your B12 level checked...your doc should be able to order a simple blood test. I've been told that anything below 200 is considered deficient, but even a normal-low value can cause symptoms. Interestingly, I recently noticed that I had a bunch of (new) gray hair. I had a blood test last week and my B12 level is within the normal range, but low. I'm now wondering if my new grays are related to the B12? At any rate, I've started taking a B-complex supplement...hope it will help with the gray!
Anyhow, you should get your B12 level checked. If it's low, speak with your doc about taking a supplement.
I've heard that black strap mol can be effective for folks who have gray hairs as a result of a vitamin deficiency...I think it's more for iron though. I'd look into the B12 (and take supplements if needed) first.
