Anyone else suffering from no sleep at night? My 16month old has been waking up since just before Christmas every night as she's getting 6 teeth (top eye teeth, bottom eye teeth and bottom molers). 3 of the 6 have just broken through but I don't know how much longer I can go without sleep! It's not like she will fall right back asleep either, she is awake from 30minutes to and hour 2-3 times a night. So exhausting, anyone have any tips?

Have you given her Motrin before bed?

You should definitely give her Motrin. Tylenol is just a pain reliever whereas Motrin takes care of inflammation. Teething pain is worse at night because of the blood flow to the head, that's most likely the reason she's up at night. Give her Motrin before bed and since it last 6 hours she should start sleeping longer. Some moms have recommended raising one side of the mattress so there isn't a rush of blood to those very tender gums. I hope you and your little one can get a good nights rest!

I feel your pain! my little one is only 6 months old, but has been getting her teeth since just before Thanksgiving. We had a small break for the first two weeks in December, but then it hit again. She's gotten 4, and there are 2 more that are so close. We use motrin- and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Last night for instance, I slept maybe 3 hours...she would fall asleep and wake up screaming in pain shoving her fingers in her mouth! I feel so bad for her because there's nothing I can do...and I'm EXHAUSTED the rest of the day then...
Hopefully this will end soon!!

My 17 month old just went through this over new years weekend. It was ROUGH! She had very red cheeks during the day and when that happened I knew we were going to have a bad night. She cried and slept horrible for 2 nights before her dumb mommy looked in her mouth and saw 2 eye teeth and a molar! Poor baby! So i gave her motrin every night for a week after that and she was back to sleeping great. If she woke up crying I would put a little baby orajel on her and she would stop crying. It can be rough but hang in there! Motrin does work!

I swear to Motrin as well. I have been going through so much of it since Christmas. My son has gotten 3 molars in less than 3 weeks and it has been rough for all of us. Thank God for Motrin!

Still waiting for those last 3 teeth to come through! I have been trying Children's Motrin (because of her weight), for the past few nights, but it only works a little bit, but she is still waking almost every hour! After about 3-4 times, I just sleep with her in the spare bed so I don't have to get up everytime she wakes. I hope that this weekend is the breakthrough weekend!

I struggle with my son getting up when he's teething too. I think, with him anyway, that he gets up because his gums hurt but then after a few nights (even though they don't hurt anymore) he would cry just because Mommy would come rock him back to sleep. If I know he's not in pain because he's had Motrin, I just let him cry. Either that or I will go in, let him know I'm there and then put him in his crib and let him cry a little. Usually, within about a minute he's back to sleep on his own. I just started doing this recently and it's working really well. He's waking less and less each night. You might be having the same problem. She might have gotten into the habit of waking and not going back to sleep on her own. A Mommy knows if her baby is hurting and needs her or just wants to be held so I'm sure you'd be able to tell the difference. :)

i tried everything then someone told me about teething tablets...i ws hesitant at first, but they actually worked...u can get them at walmart....follow directions on bottle u either put under their tongue or i dissolved 2 in 1tsp of water and gave it to her in a med syringe...it worked miracles at night...

I agree with Tiff. Sometimes you just have to let them cry. My son has been popping teeth like crazy and his sleeping schedule is so messed up. He is waking way too early in the morning and a few times at night. I give him Motrin before bed and I know he is fine, so I have started to just let him cry. Like Tiff said, sometimes they just want you to be there. I refuse to keep rocking him back to sleep, which I have done several times recently. I am not going to do it anymore.
