Hello, My doctor suggested Botox for my headaches the other day and being wary of any medicine I am hoping to find some people with Botox experiences. My doctor mentioned how it works and the biggest concern I had was when he mentioned that facial muscles could over relax and make your face droopy. Any feedback about this or anything to do with Botox would be greatly appreciated!! Hope everyone has a pain free day!!

I've had five botox treatments since December 2000 and my migraines are definitely less frequent. It didn't happen overnight, but I would say the botox has been effective. I don't have muscle droop. The only side effect on my face is that I can't raise my eye brows very high. Beside shots in my temples and forehead, I get shots in my shoulders and upper back since those are the areas of tension prior to a migraine attack. I am also on Inderal. Good luck!

Are you referring to myofascial trigger points? Have you been to a manual practitioner that has performed ischemic compression, cross friction, post-isometric relaxation, and manipulation? Much less invasive and might help to resolve some of the problem, assuming you are speaking of MTrp.

Hi,
I went into a Botox clinical trial. They gave me 20 injections in my face, neck, and shoulders (small and not nearly as bad as a migraine http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif It takes a couple weeks to work on the headaches. Well, it only worked really well for about a week for me (one headache during that week) and maybe b/c I was still excited that it may fix my life long migraines. I went from headaches 65% of my days down to 40% and the ones I got were less severe.
I didn't have severe muscle problems, but I couldn't raise my eyebrows for about a month and a half. My shoulder muscles also got tired easier (maybe you wouldn't notice, but I'm a dancer and so I did.)
The nurse said it only worked for about 10% of the people who received it and it wasn't complete in anyone.
But it may work and there is little to lose! Good luck!
