I have been taking Neurontin for a few months now an am very happy with it. My doctor has been increasing the dose and I am now up to 400mg 4 times a day. It has really helped with migraines caused by barometric pressure changes. Now I get just a mild one or none at all!! I didn't think I would find something to help with this type of migraine. I hope it will last for a long time. (Usually a drug will be effective for me anywhere from 6 mos to 1 yr.) I haven't had a really bad migraine since I started taking Neurontin.
The only side effects I have had are trouble with getting my thoughts out and thinking of a word I want to use. It's not too bad though. Another one may be weight gain (groan). I lost 10 lbs on Topomax, but gained it back with the Neurontin. My husband thinks that it may slow the metabolism a bit. Oh well, it is better than the terrible pain I had before. I had constant migraines and some lasted 8 excruciating days. For now, they are a thing of the past. Hooray!!!

FYI weight gain is not a side effect of Neurotin. Glad the medication works so well for you.

I am on neurontin and remeron and gained 10lbs since may (yes double groan!) remoron causes increased appetite. You may just be happier because your pain free and you have an increased appetite. I've been on neurontin by itself for 1 yr. I did eat more but just noticed the weight gain since remeron. Stay pain free!

I have barometric pressure migraines three times a week and Zomig helps, but as for prevention the only time I had substantial relief was when I went to graduate school in Arizona. I am trying to move back to a desert climate because living in Iowa is killing me.

Medications can do different things to different people even though it may not be a listed side effect. When I was on Topamax I lost 10 lbs. but it also made my hair really curly. The reason I went off of it was the headaches were fine for a few months then came back so my doctor switched me to Nueurontin.
My husband said it was better to gain a little weight and not have so many headaches (what a sweety!). I gained back the 10lbs. I had lost. Oh well, what a battle if it's not one thing it is another!!
