http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif everyone!
Went to a specialist to see about these #$%^&*@ headaches, and he prescribed 2 different meds. One is "amitryptiline", which I take at bedtime; the other is called "amerge". It is very expensive, but I have never found anything that takes my headaches completely away as this does.
I've read other threads about waking with a headache, and that's exactly what I do. Always in the same spot, it just varies in intensity.
The doc told me that the amitryptiline, (elavil) will take a few weeks to work, and I'm increasing the dosage by 10 mgs. weekly. I tolerate it well, just haven't felt any benefit from it yet. (It's only been 2 weeks.) However, the amerge has been wonderful! I have had to use it 3 times so far, for the really bad ones, and it has worked like a charm.
I'm not naive, I know this drug can't work for everyone, I'm just very glad I've finally found something that can work for me!
