Does anyone know if there is a relationship between HPV and a low WBC count?

I was told I had HPV (one of the 4 main strains that could lead to cervical cancer and are covered by Guardisil which I have NOT had). Additional paps and biopsy revealed things were moving in the right direction.

HOWEVER, within a month of all this, blood tests came back to show low WBC count. HPV is a virus, and I know a virus can decrease WBC count, but is this to be expected with HPV?

Thanks!

I'm interested to know the answer as well. I've had hrhpv for over a year and I may also have lrhpv (wasn't tested for this) all from the same man, no Gardasil. I also have chronic "neutropenia" (I use parentheses because low WBC counts may simply be normal for me, I've had chronically, consistently low WBC counts since I was a little girl). I have had blood taken numerous times throughout the years and I have never had an in-range WBC count. I'm now 27.

My brother is a med student and theorized the reason I may be one of the minority of women who develop manifestation of hrhpv due to my low WBC count. And, I had a CBC done during active hpv infection, and it was still extremely low.

Actually Chubbycheeks, when one is actively fighting infection of any sort, the WBC count should be higher than normal, not low. So I wonder if my body didn't "see" the infection to fight it since my WBC didn't show evidence of a favorable immune response.

What do you mean by your paps and biopsies showing things were "moving in the right direction?" Do you mean they were all negative? (I hope!) Are you otherwise healthy?

Please post if you find out whether low WBCs have any connection with hpv. I'll inquire into this at my followup in a couple months and let you know. Thanks.
