View Full Version : sinus headache or not?!!

I have had recurrent sinus infections over the past year. Last one started with the usual horrendous headaches and pain above my eyes and behind my eyes.
This time the antibiotics didn't clear-up my headaches. I finished them a week ago. Anyone else have this? I have congested nose and my eyes ache- feel like I want to close them and rub them all the time. Also my affected eye seems to water in the AM.
I don't wake with a headache, but develop one in mid AM. Also, mucus in nose is sometimes clear, but has been yellow, green and bloody in the past few weeks on and off, too! Do you all think this is truly a sinus infection or do you think I need to have further investigation done?!! Dr. suggested that if I don't feel better this time he would like me to get head/sinus cat scan. I had similar headaches last spring with a sinus infection, but Zithromax cleared up all headaches. For some reason I have not taken my prescription strength decongestants- probably because it said side effects could be drowsiness or dizziness.
I already am dizzy enough. I just need some reassurance that this could be a sinus problem and not something more serious?!! Thanks!

I would like to ask why your doctor didn't do sinus x-rays in the first place. Since your treatment did not work this time go in and ask for a set of sinus x-rays. This will either confirm or rule out a sinus infection. Also use your decongestant as ordered as it will help with the congestion and pressure in your head. The dizziness ie: can't seem to navigate stairs etc as well as just plain dizziness is one of the symptoms of a sinus infection/sinusitis that I know all to well. I am also going to recommend that you start taking a good multivitamin and antioxidant supplement. I was prone to 3-4 bouts with sinusitis/sinus infections every year including some sinus infections as well as a migraine headache all at the same time. I knew antioxidants were great for helping your immune system but never realized just how much they help until I started a good multivitamin and an antioxidant routinely. I have not needed any antibiotics for sinus infection/sinusitis for one full year now as today.
