Hi girls, Geez I need a light at the end of the tunnel. My hot flashes started 2 years ago October. My mom died and I think the grief prompted them to start. I'm 49. They would last two to three months, then stop for 2 -3 months, then start up again. This past June they started up again and haven't stopped. They also are much more intense and I get about 20 to 30 a day. I can't sleep at night because of the night sweats. I started working out hard cardio about 3 weeks ago, it hasn't helped. I'm keeping it up to try and lose the 20lbs I've gained since this started -not a lb lost yet by the way - very discouraging. I started black cohosh a week ago, still no relief. I'm scared I'm going to be one of the unlucky ones who never gets rid of hot flashes. How long has everyone's lasted, and do they eventually get less frequent? Did exersize help? I'm getting weary.

Hi
3 weeks isn't really long enough to see any proper training effect from the exercise you are doing. Hang in there - give it a couple of months. Do continue exercising. by all accounts women who are fit and not overweight tend to cope with menopausal symptoms much better (or so the research tells us)
