View Full Version : 3rd IUI tomorrow

Wish me luck! It will probably be tomorrow or possible Saturday. Its still so hard to pinpoint the time. The OPK's have been getting darker and darker but still not quite the same color as the sample strip. My temp was not up as of this morning. The nurse said if I test tonight and the OPK has a thick line, we will do it tomorrow. If the line doesn't become thick until tomorrow, we will do it Saturday.
If I get a BFP this time, it will be right in time for my birthday! I am praying hard because we can't afford this month after month.

Thank you for your well wishes. I'm going crazy here. I tested last night at 8 and got a + but tested again at 5am this morning and got a + so I cancelled for this morning. I am now waiting for the nurse to call back and see if we should do it this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Now I'm looking up a bunch of things online (something I should not do) and one website said not to use the first urine of the morning. I don't think my brain can hold anymore info and facts on conceiving!

Hi Jennifer,

Has your nurse called you back yet? Was it a thick line last night and this morning? My RE's office has me test at night (but they only do it then so they can do the IUI's the next morning) but I have read to do it in the evening as well. However, when I've tested with the OPK's, I get a positve and it stays positive for 2 days. The RE's office said that that's normal for some people -- it just means that LH stays elevated for a while, but that ovulation should occur after the first positive/surge. So, I would definately make sure you talk to your nurse today to see if you should do the IUI this afternoon.

Good luck!!

Love,
Kelley

We did it this morning! The nurse called back and said to get there as soon as I could. I got my primary RE this time. She was so supportive when I was telling her how emotional things have been for me. I told her about the online support group and hinted she should start one there. DH's mobility was up to 40% when they washed it. I had to ask her, The first IUI was by her, it seemed longer and a bit painful, I didn't think anything of it, figured it was the first, I didn't know what to expect. Then last month I got a guy, He was really fast and it didn't hurt at all. Then today felt like the first one. I didn't want her to feel that she was hurting me but I wondered why his was so fast. She said he tended to use one type catherder for everyone and she used what she felt was best. She said it went well though. So, I had to go all over to find a pharmacy that had the progesterone. This is my first month on it. When I got there it was this old time tiny pharmacy with one worker, he was so nice but informed me that my insurance no longer covered it. I had to pay $60, not a huge amount but I was expecting to pay $20. I am going to relax over the next couple of weeks. I am not used to doing that. I came right home, got into my PJ's and was quickly surrounded by my cats. Beta on 2/1

Hi Philly and welcome to the 2ww!

I'm so glad that you got your IUI done but sorry to hear it was a little uncomfortable. I guess different doctor's have different techniques. I think it is great that you are planning on taking it easy for a couple of weeks - anything to help with implantaion..... right?

Babydust!

Yep, I never relax. I don't do super strenous things either but I have my bed surrounded by books and craft projects. Lots of DVD's, etc. My dog and cats will probably "help".

Hi Jennifer!

I'm glad all went well today, although I'm sorry it was a little uncomfortable this time again. We'll all be here to get you through the 2ww!!! I am really hoping that this is it for you!!!!!

I am curious about the progesterone. Some REs offices seem to put their patients on the supplements after the IUIs and mine doesn't put patients on anything. I wonder what the reasoning is both ways. Just curious -- I have progesterone at home from when I had the BFP for a while, I was almost tempted to take it after my IUI this time, but I'd be too scared to without the doctor's orders, and I'd have no idea how much to take. Anyhow, just curious if anyone has any input on that.

Sending you lots of babydust, and I really hope to see some good news in a couple weeks!

Love,
Kelley

Hey Jennifer! Glad you are resting up now after your IUI. Sorry you had the gal who does it a bit slower and more uncomfortable... I know as long as it works in the end you won't mind, right? ;) Enjoy the company of your sweet animals tonite and let them know that a baby will be joining the family in nine months :D Got my fingers crossed for you!

I'm not quite sure about the progesterone either. I didn't take it in the prior IUI's. First month was a little low. Last month's was 11.7 and they wanted it to be over 10 so it was. Oh well, if it helps, that is great. She did say that it can delay AF. That would drive me crazy because I have never ever been late. They told me to get the beta done on 2/1 but that is a Friday, I think I might go that Thursday and hopefully have the results by Friday. I'd go nuts all weekend!

Hi Jennifer!

February 1st will be here before you know it!!!! I'd go crazy too if I had to wait the whole weekend for news - I hope you can find out on the Friday either way! I'm really hoping this is it!!!!! My IUI will probably be on the same day as your beta -- so I will be thinking of you and hoping that there's some good news from you when I get home that day!
