View Full Version : How long do external hemorrhoids last?

It has been 10 days since I first saw a small pea-sized bulge near the anus. I went to the doctor who confirmed that it was an external hem and prescribed Anucort suppositories. Between the suppositories and Preparation H ointment, I have been able to reduce the itching and the burning. However, the hemorrhoid itself does not seem to have reduced.

Can some one tell me what the usual timespan of an hemorrhoid is ? Do they stay forever? I have started taking metamucil and high-fiber diets to avoid constipation.

I wish I knew. I'm in the same boat as you. I started taking Fiber Choice every day, seems to help with bowel movements. But the hemorhoid itself does not really GO away
