Had my IVF education appt yesterday, and now I am SUPER excited about my cycle!! :D:D:D I got a call from my nurse on my way to the appt, and I was terrified to answer it - thinking she would be cancelling again - but she just wanted to warn me that it was sleeting out (I drive 40 min to the office) and see if I wanted to reschedule. Heck no!! I said, I'm already on my way! :D We had the appt as planned, and I walked out of there w/ a shopping bag FULL of meds! :D I still have to order some oral meds, but the only injectible med I will need to buy is the Ovidrel trigger. I am so excited! I knew they had meds for me, but I really didn't expect them to have that much. This is going to save us thousands of dollars!!
Anyway, back to the appt...I got my calendar, and we will be doing things slightly different this time around. Last time I was on lupron, follistim, & menopur. This time they are adding bravelle. I think it might be because I had so many eggs (26), but only half of them were mature (13). Maybe this time we will go for quality instead of quantity and get that bfp!!
Lupron starts on 2/8. Last day of bcp on 2/14. Baseline u/s on 2/19. Stimming starts on 2/21 and I am going to schedule my monitoring appts today. They will be the week starting 2/24. E/r & e/t will be the first week of March. :D:D
It feels like it will be starting so soon!! I never thought I would get to this point again, I was starting to think I would be waiting forever. I'm getting that good feeling & thinking this cycle really will work!! The last time we did this, my dr's office only had his IVF success rates available for 2005, and his percentages were around 30 or 40%...not the greatest (BUT, he takes all patients regardless of age or issues, and that hurts his stats a little). Well, when I went yesterday, there were success rates for 2007, and his percentages had jumped to over 50% resulting in live births. :D I feel so much more confident after seeing that!!
Okay, before this turns into a book, I need to stop typing. LOL Sorry this is so long, I'm just so excited!!!! Talk to you ladies soon!
Holly
PS....Praying, I wasn't sure what details you're interested in hearing, so if you have any specific questions, don't be afraid to ask. I'd be more than happy to answer them. :)

Holly, it sounds like you had an awesome appointment! That is so great that they were able to provide you with all of those meds! You are one lucky gal! And I think it's so sweet that the nurse called to see if you wanted to reschedule because of the weather. But like you, I'm sure there would be no way I would reschedule either! You've been waiting too long! It looks like I'll be just two weeks behind you. I can't wait to hear about your BFP just in time for my ER and ET...it will give me lots of encouragement. Good luck and let the fun begin! - April

Yay Holly, I'm so glad you got to your appt. safely, and what a wonderful surprise to be given almost all your meds. That is really really great, your nurses and RE are really looking out for you, but your generous act of egg donation really deserves it. I would have been petrified to answer that call from the nurse, dreading that they were cancelling again, and I'm just like you, I would have pushed on no matter what the weather. Yesterday I had to wake up extra early to get to a work conference in a city I had never been to. I'm not a morning person, and am usually dragging my butt into work every day, but yesterday I woke up like I was 5 years old and going to Disneyland, that's how excited I was for my appt. with the new RE:D so I can definately relate.

Hey Holly! That is fantastic news! :blob_fire And whoa, things really are scheduled to have you moving quickly! I'm so glad you've just got a few more weeks on bcp! The new protocol sounds really good... I know exactly what you mean by quality over quantity too. I feel confident the adjustments they've made are going to be reflected in the results. And this time your BFP is gonna be a VERY sticky one!!!! :)
I can only imagine how scared you must have been when you saw that phone ring as you were driving into the office... I'm sure I'd have thought the same thing as you! But for your nurse to be concerned about you driving in bad weather, well I think that is sweet. Honestly Holly I really get the impression that this cycle is meant to be. With ALL the meds they gave you to help get you started, and the schedule being so close now... I definitely see a BFP in your very near future and I am SO excited for you!!!!:D

Hi Holly,
You don't sound crazy at all!!!! We are all so excited for you, and your positive attitude and excitement gets us even more excited!!!!! I can't WAIT for you to post a BFP coming up soon enough!!!
I used to be a caffeine addict, I think... DH and I would drink 3-4 cups of coffee a day at least. When we started treatment, I cut back to 1 cup a day, unless it was during the 2ww, but now I've cut it out completely pretty much. I thought I'd have a rough time, but it actually isn't so bad. I'm loving my decaf green tea instead.
I hope your week is amazing, and again - I am so excited for you!

Thanks again everyone! You make it easy to stay excited. Your posts are just what I needed to read this morning. I woke up in the middle of the night w/ this feeling of impending doom & the first thought that came to mind was that I will never experience giving birth. It was really creepy & of course made me sad. I know it was just my fears presenting themselves, so I'm trying to put it behind me. All this excitement about my upcoming cycle definitely helps.:)
So ladies, thanks again for being my rock when I need you the most. Don't know what I'd do w/o you all. Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Baby dust to you all.

I am going to have a really hard time with the caffeine thing. I drink energy drinks every day and a Dt Coke every day. Once I start treatments or BCP (if he puts me on them) I'll cut it out, but boy will I be tired and cranky.
I know what you mean about the dreams Holly. I've been having all sorts of paranoid dreams. The most recent one I had weas last night and I think it was because of the post I did about taking so long to get DH onboard with IVF. But, I had a dream that I was pg this cycle on a fluke since my right tube is blocked and my left is not all clear, anyho, I m/c and DH said that he was backing out of IVF since it happened once it could happen again. I woke up all panicked.
You know, we've waited so long that we just dont want anything to stand in the way and we want it to be perfect so we can get our dream. This is something I think about daily and obsess over it and I think that is why I am so paranoid and have these dreams. I cant wait to start accupuncture, maybe it will relax me and calm me down.
I hope you have a great day today Holly!!!

Hi Holly!!!
How are you today? I hope your day is going well!!! All the dreams and crazy thoughts are just other things that unfortunately accompany IF. It's crazy how one minute I feel so positive, and then in the middle of the night I'll wake up sometimes so upset. Hi Holly! Believe if anyone understand abotu feeling doom lurking, it's me. I can definitely understand the feeling.
But you have nothing to fear, dearest. It WILL turn out positive. The dreams and foreboding feeling is just another part of the roller coaster. You're right, it's our fears and apprehension working itself out on us.
I knwo it's hard to ignore (especially for women, it's hard to ignore our feeligns) but just remember that everyday the passes, you ARE closer to holding your little ones in your arms, closer to packing lunches, closer to helping with homework, helping with dressing for a class recital....everyday that passes, you are closer to not only a BFP, but closer to motherhood.
We're always here and we all love you so much!

Hi Holly
I can definitely relate to the feeling of doom that you experienced. It's a horrible way to feel and easily triggered at any time of the day or night. I have spent many a sleepless night tossing and turning with thoughts like that running through my head. Like Princess said, it is an unpleasant part of the infertilty rollercoaster.
I hope your day got better and that you are feeling happier now.

Hi girls,
Sorry I haven't been posting much recently. I am so sick!! I was hit with nausea at work yesterday, came home early, and I haven't been able to keep anything down except toast and crackers. :( I caught up on the threads last night, but I just haven't had any energy to post. Not feeling too positive, so I don't have much to say. Been in bed all morning too.
When I tossed my cookies at work, one of my co-workers jumped to the conclusion that I am pg, but of course, I'm not. The conversation brought me to tears. I'm so emotional these days!! :o I cry at the drop of a hat.
Anyway, my meds were delivered yesterday, so I gathered everything together (including the stuff my nurse gave me), and I made sure I have everything I need. I think we are set. I'm a little nervous though cuz last time I used 25 gauge needles and the needles my nurse provided me with this time are 30 gauge. That means they're bigger, right? A little nervous about that...
Well, that's it for now. Just wanted you all to know that even though I'm not up to posting, I am always thinking of you all & hoping for new bfps every day. Hopefully this bug will get out of my system soon & everything will be back to normal. I need to get healthy for this upcoming cycle!!

Oh Holly, I'm so sorry you're sick!! And sick enough to vomit at work!! Oh you poor darling! Now, you go home right this minute! You are only in fit shape for bed, crackers and talk shows. :) Ummm...I mean STAY home. LOL, sorry I missed the part where you said you've been in bed all morning. :o
I'm sorry that one of your co-workers jumped to the conclusion that you're pg. It's always hard when having to explain. :( (But are you sure there is absolutely no chance?) I'm sorry you have to go through that. Some people just really should mind their own business. Would it have been so hard for her to say, "I'm sorry you're feeling ill. Is there anyhting I can do?" It's being concerned without prying. Sorry, I'm just a defensive on your behalf. :)
I hope you get lots of rest and are up and back to it really soon! :D As I always, without fail say; at least you gettin git over and done with now! :) Although, be prepared, a few weeks after your e/t, you will have to do it again...only that time it will be official m/s from a strong BFP!!!!!

Hi Holly, Sorry to hear you are so sick... I'm glad you are home resting and recovering. As crappy as it is to have such an upset stomach at least you are getting this bug out of your system now. Could you imagine how stressful it would be if you got so sick mid-stims? That is def one of my biggest fears with doing these IVF cycles. I don't get really sick very often and it would just stink if it happened right after a transfer or something!
As for the needles, April is right... I looked and my 22 gauge are much smaller than my 18 gauge. So this could actually be a good thing!
Thinking of you and hope that you are feeling better!

I really appreciate everyone's concern. You girls really are like the sisters I never had but always wanted. I've been resting on the couch all day,and I finally managed to keep some soup down. Thank God, cuz I am starving! I think the rest was good for me though cuz I am feeling better physically & emotionally. Hopefully it was just a 24 hour bug.
Princess, believe me, I am always hopeful that I am pg at the slightest bit of nausea. ;) But, I've been on bcp's since my last AF in preparation for this IVF cycle, so there's no chance. In fact, I'm on a scheduled break from the bcp's (stopped them on Monday), and AF just showed this morning, so definitely not preggo. I think it's sweet that you were hoping it was possible though. Believe me, I was too. It just upset me to have to get into that conversation at work in front of other co-workers...especially when I already didn't feel good.
April & Kari, thank you SO MUCH for telling me about the needle size!! I thought the larger the number, the thicker the needle. What a relief!!! Those injections will be cake compared to last time around!! And they weren't even that bad to begin with. YIPPEE!!
Well, gotta get to the other threads. I feel like I've abandoned everyone.

Hi!! I am feeling MUCH better today. :) My day started off kind of rough, but I have been feeling better and better as the day goes on. Thank God!
And, I have a bit of good news...I talked to my RE's office today, and they think they can get my insurance to cover the cost of the donor testing for my cycle. Last time around, I paid it out of pocket, and it was $300. But the lab that performed the testing has since closed and the cheapest lab they can find now charges $600 for the same testing. So, if my insurance covers it, that will be great!!!
Hope everyone else is having a wonderful day!!

Hi ladies! Princess, Kelley, Mapia, & April, I appreciate your responses.
I'm not really sure what's going on now. After I got home from getting my teeth cleaned last night, I ate a lunchmeat & cheese sandwich (thinking I was better), and my stomach started to get really queasy again. Today it's more of the same. If only it were m/s!! I had a sleepless night too - went to bed at 10 and was still staring at the clock after 1. Oh well, I'm gonna do my best to keep that happy face on. It's Friday & I restart bcp tonight, so that is one step closer to getting this cycle underway. Definitely something to be happy about.
Hope everyone is doing better than me. ;):D
