Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if some of you could help me out. I'm going through a really rough time in my relationship. I've been with my boyfriend for 6 years and he seems to always be up and down. He has been diagnosed with depression Bipolar disorder when he was younger and has even attempted suicide. He doesnt take meds he kind of blew the docs off because he didnt want to go on medications and all. Well we've have been having a lot of problems in our relationship lately and I need to get to the bottom of it because I'm hurting and I'm not sure how much more i can take. He has always struggled with drugs & alcohol since I've known him. Always went through periods of depression. Mood Swings. Loss of interest in sex. He says mean hurtful things to me then the next day he says he loves me. I have been considering leaving him because i'm not all there emmotionally myself and this relationship is taking its toll on me.

I just don't want to give up on it when i really love him and he's just going through a rough period that has to do with his state and not me.
For example it seems like all throughout our relationship its been ups and downs. For a few months he'll be a great boyfriend we'll get along great everything will be wonderful we'll be talking marraige then just out of nowhere he'll go months without giving me any affection. he'll go months without having sex turning me down. He'll act depressed he'll take naps all day and will act mean to me.

I was just hoping that someone else going through this could give me some advice and maybe let me know what they think about this situation.

It's been really tough for me. He won't talk to me and like i said one minute its i love you the next he wants nothing to do with me. I just dont know what to do I would just like to know if it is the end of my relationship or if he's just going through something

Do not use the bipolar board unless you are bipolar.
Do not use the bipolar board for relationship advice.

Do your own research. Try WebmD for a bipolar symptom list.
