Does anyone know if freezing the embyos during IVF hurt them or change their outcome in their health when they thaw?
DH and I still haven't decided if we're going to do IVF. It all stems on the answer to this question.
Has anyone ever asked their RE this question? What did they say?

Hi Pinkie
I'm not sure of the answer to your question but I am glad you asked it and am also interested in hearing what others have to say about it.
Good luck in making a decision.
Ruby
Hi Pinkie. When we froze our embryo, the doctor assured us that he had patients who had frozen embryos and thawed them 10 years later and gotten pregnant. the biggest question is if the embryo will survive the thaw and that can only be answered at transfer time. My RE would only thaw embryos that made it to blast stage to ensure they were the healthiest they could be before the thaw.

Every time I ask my RE about the health of the babies, they always reassure me that there is no increase in developmental problems, health problems, mental problems, etc with frozen embie babies.
Statistically the chances of having a baby with "problems" are just as likely for people who conceive naturally.
The majority of the time they are perfectly healthy and normal, so no worries!

Thank you all for your replies.
I keep meaning to ask my RE but day to day life gets so busy that before I know it, it's past 5pm and her office is closed.
It is helpful knowing what other RE tell their patients about this.
