I am 48 years old and am smack in the middle of peri.I have been having night sweats off and on for a while. For the past 6 weeks it's been horrible with it happening every night waking up drenched,on and off with the covers.I decided to try some Benadryl 2 nights ago just hoping to get some more sleep. The past 2 nights I did take benadryl and I finally had no night sweats and only woke up once to use the bathroom . Has anyone else tried this and have it worked for them? :)

I've read that Benadryl is a great non addictive sleep aid. If I really need a good nite sleep I can just take 1/2 or 1 teaspoon of the children's benadryl and it works for me.

Yeah Benadryl worked great for me but it raises blood pressure and can lead to urinary problems.

Yes I take Benadryl often and really helps me sleep. Benadryl does not cause high blood pressure but may cause low blood pressue. You can also take Tylenol PM the ingredient (Diphenhydramine) is the main ingredient in Benadryl plus you get the added Acetaminophen if needed.

My GYN put me on low dose birth control pills. (I'm 49) I haven't even taken them for a full month yet but I no longer wake up with hot flashes or chills in the middle of the night. She said it would help with that plus give me a period each month.
I feel great!
