I have not had a period going on 6 months. The doctors really do not seemed concerned that I have PCOS so I am trying to figure out what I can do on my own. I would like to try something natural to help instead of the clomid. I have heard of DCI and flax seed-any other options or thoughts out there?
Thanks!

I heard Mexican Yams also help with PCOS. I did a lot of research and one of the things that kept coming up were the yams. I just don't know where to get them and I'm not a big fan of yams. From what I read they would need to be part of your daily diet. If like you like yams they could work.

I know you're looking for something natural, but I'm just curious if they ever had you take Provera? I haven't had a period since September and my doctor just put me back on it to take every two months to force a period. He said in order for my lining to stay healthy, I needed to continue to have a period.

just a thought, if you cant find anything natural that works. i suffered for years before i found a doc that took one look at me and new what i needed. she put me on metformin and spironolactone. one is for blood sugar and the other is a diruetic that has hormonal properties to it. it took a while to get the levels correct but they were eventually found. now i have regular periods, lost about 50 lbs. and feel soooooo much better! anyway, good luck! hope you find what you need.

I agree that you may need Provera to help bring on a period. Yams can help, and cinnamon supplements can help with weight loss and insulin resistance (IR) which can also alter your regularity. I think you might want to take some time to find a new doctor who will listen to your concerns and maybe help you do this naturally. Good luck to you - I know how frusturating it is! :)

I completely understand your frustration. Something I just tried after reading about it on another thread was the importance of consuming ground flax. I was diagnosed nearly 4 years ago but wasn't put on metformin until last year. After a few months of that, exercise and following a low carb regimen, I finally got a period in November. I had also lost 20 pounds! I had some spotting in December but I was not diligent about diet and exercise. So I don't think there was ovulation that month. After reading the thread about flax, I decided to start taking flaxseed oil again and ate 2 tbsp. of ground flax a day. I also got back into my low carb and exercise regimen. One week later...I got another period with ovulation! I think everything I was doing contributed...but I really think the flax helped. I've been reading there's HUGE health benefits from consuming flax.

losing weight and being the right BMI (body mass index) helps as does exercise

I have PCOS too. I am using metformin and Clomid with trigger shot and IUI to try to get pregnant, but after all of this I plan to try not to take all those things. I have read and my RE said the South Beach diet works really will cause it help regulate your sugar and things. That the change in diet can make a difference.
Thanks!
