Waking up in the middle of the night, feeling sweaty with elevated blood pressure and intense burping with pins and needles going down my left arm. Nothing else hurts. No chest pain - no nausea - just the feeling of being anxious. Can being anxious raise one's blood pressure? Relief for this is 2.5 mg of Xanax that seems to help. Is this anxiety? It happens mostly during sleep.

You're probably much younger, but your problems sound just like my mom....who was diagnosed with anxiety years ago...and xanax (plus a high blood pressure pill) is what is helping her. She's been taking a .5 mg xanax at bedtime for years, now. It helps her sleep better.
Anxiety can manifest itself in a number of ways, but just to be on the safe side, you should probably explain all your symptoms to your doctor.
The intense burping and pins & needles down your arm is a bit baffling, though---
That's why I think you should see your doctor. It could be something like acid reflux.
