:confused:I have been on paxil for a year now, and since I have been on paxil I have gone from 154lbs in July to 195 this is out of control, I cannot seem to drop the weight and now wonder if it is indeed the paxil causing this huge gain in weight. I need a drug that will not make me gain weight, I was told Zoloft worked with no weight gain, I really need help.

Zoloft works great for me. I ahve not gained any weight. In fact I have lost a few in the past 6 weeks I have been on. I am really starting to love this med.

I had gained weight on a few ADs in the past but not this one.

Paxil I have been told works good for anxiety but has the side effect of weight gain. Zoloft is said to be "weight neutral".

Let me know if you have any questions.

I have tried every antidepressant and I gained at least 40 lbs on all of them. Some people don't. Sorry just sharing my experience. I have been doing this for 10 years. good luck.

just curious---
Do you people think SSRI's increase your appetite?--thereby eating more...
Or do you think it has side effects, like waterweight gain, changing hormones, etc...?
Kind of like how steroids act?

I'm on low-dose celexa, and I've noticed an increase in my appetite....
But, it could also be due to the fact that I'm recuperating from some illnesses.

I think it is a mixture.

I think some slow your metabolism. And I also think that once you start to feel a little better your wanting to eat.

I never changed my eating habits and continued to work out even more and I still gained.

This did not happen to me on Zoloft or prozac (or the short time I was on it).

It really is upsetting when the weight packs on because we don't want to end up with another health problem like high blood pressure, diabetic, etc.

with me it feels like I have alot of water weight that makes me feel like I cant walk like my legs are heavy. even with changing my eating habit my weight still rises, like I said I was 154 in July and now up to 200.

Maybe you should ask your doctor about a dieuretic.
I think that's how you spell it....
It eliminates unnecessary water in your system.
Only thing is...I think it makes you use the bathroom a lot more.

Are you watching the "bad" calories...like soda pop, baked goods, etc..?

I have been cheating and eating ice cream a few nights a week but thats because I crave the sweets due to menstrul cycle other than that I do watch what I eat as I also have high cholesterol I am taking Zetia for. I have an appt with my doc on Tuesday so I will be asking for the diaretic to reduce the excess water weight.. not too mention changing my meds and weaning off of them.

Good luck. I know how frustrating it all can be.
Let us know your progress. :)
