View Full Version : Cycle # 6

kjmrfld
01-21-2008, 08:06 AM
The other thread was a bit long, so I'm starting a new one.

So, here we go again... cycle #6! Saw the nice doctor today, and there were no cysts present this time (Woohoo!!). So, if b/w comes back ok, will start up again tonight. I'm terrified, though, because DH goes to Boston tomorrow, so I won't have him around to give the injection for one night. I know I sound like a baby, and that just about everyone is able to do the injections themselves, but I just CANNOT do it. I don't know what I'm gonna do tomorrow night!

The doctor said they typically do 3 IUI cycles before moving onto IVF, and since my 3rd cycle did work (sort of), he decided to do three more. After this cycle, it's up to me he said -- since insurance pays for IUI's he said we could do more until I can afford IVF. All of this is so frustrating!

Anyway, off to do some work, but I hope everyone has a great day!

Love,
Kel

Hi Kelley,

I just wanted to send you lots of good luck for this cycle. I'm glad to hear you got to see the nice dr & there weren't any cysts. Hopefully that is a sign of good things to come. :D I'll be following your cycle & praying for that bfp.

Hi Kel!

Glad to see you are preparing for your next cycle! Very exciting.

I just want you to know that I could never ever do the injections myself. not one. ever. and we did 7 rounds of injectables before moving on to the 2 rounds with IVF. My DH had to do every one. i know i sounded like a baby but i get queasy at the site of a needle let alone sticking one in myself.

the very first time we started an injectable cycle my DH had to go away for one night overnight and my first shot was supposed to be saturday night. so i made an executive decision and had him give it to me saturday morning instead. so it was a little earlier than planned but never hurt anything. maybe you could ask your nurse if it is OK to have him give you one before he goes. if this is the beginning of a new cycle i can't see how it would mess anything up. it's worth a try for your peace of mind.

CBB - Thanks for the suggestion! When my nurse calls, I'll have to ask her. I should start the injections tonight, and DH leaves first thing tomorrow morning. I'm wondering if the two injections will be too close together. If he can't do it in the morning, I think I'll seriously have to skip one day! You're right, it's early in the cycle, so even that hopefully won't hurt anything. Thanks for making me feel better about not being able to do it! I'm being realistic -- there is NO way I'll be able to do it myself.

Holly, I'm praying for all of our BFPs VERY SOON too!!!!!! I'm very excited about your upcoming cycle!!

Hi Kelley, I am so glad you got the nice doctor and that you have no cysts Woooohooooo:D. I hope that this cycle brings you your well deserved BFP:D. As for the injection it is not so bad but if you are not up to it I think it is best to call the nurse and asked her if DH can do it tomorrow before he leaves.

I want to wish you luck for your cycle and I look forward to following it all the way :D:D.

Hi Kelley!

I forgot to put this in my last post...;)...About the injection, you can also ask your nurse if there's any way they can give you the one shot that DH will not be around to do. I've heard of other ladies getting one or two shots at their dr's office, so I know it is something that can be done. It's worth a shot (pun intended...lol). :jester:

Good luck to you!!!!

Best of luck Kelley! I pray this cycle works for you!!

I am still in my 2ww for IUI #4...AF is due on Thursday or Friday. Last month I was early so I am confused on what to expect. I have off today for the holiday and I never say this, but I wish I was at work b/c my mind would be busy and not focusing on every tiny possible symptom. I am praying AF doesn't show and this week goes fast!

Hey Kelley! Congrats on your quiet ovaries this morning!!! Feels pretty good getting the all-clear, doesn't it?! Well since I had my day-3 u/s this morning too it appears we will be cycling together!!! I'm guessing you'll hit the 2WW a few days ahead of me since you are doing an IUI... but our betas could be fairly close together!

As for the injections, we all understand how scary it is to do the first self-injection. I recall my first time... I had been out of town for work and was supposed to give myself a bravelle shot (which DH had always done). I was shaking so hard that I screwed up just trying to mix it... I wasted an entire
vial of powder (and that was $50 out of pocket!). After crying and feeling sorry for myself for a while I tracked down my sister's BF from childhood who lived in Denver where I was working cause I remembered that she had diabetes and often gave herself injections. I invited myself over, pulled down my pants, and told her she had to give me the shot! How's that for a reunion! :jester: Well let us know what you end up doing.

I'm glad you decided to move forward with another IUI. And I think it really is a good sign that there were no cysts or any other lingering side effects from prior medication. I am praying hard this IUI will do it and you won't need to worry about IVF!!!!!!

Hi Kelley, I'm so glad everything came back quiet for you this month! It's always nice to be able to get past a BFN by moving onto the next cycle (at least it is for me!). I'm sorry you're so scared to give yourself the shot. I'm hoping you can find a way around doing it yourself. But if you can't, I'm hoping you can find the strength to do it yourself. My DH travels every week Mon - Thurs. so I always have to give myself my shots (I've done stims and the big trigger). What works for me is to simple prepare the shot and do it. The longer you think about what you're doing, the harder it will be to do it. I know this is easier said than done obviously. But I wish you tons of luck!!!

Oh wonderful news!!! Nice quiet, happy ovaries!!!! :D:D:D:D I"m so hoping for your BFP this time around, dearest, I really am! :D Aboutthe shot I htink it was Holly who suggested that you see if the dr's office can do it for you if you can't yourself. Maybe you can follow up on that, dear?

Dancing for you!!!

My goodness - I was surprised to see all of the responses since this morning!!! You all are the greatest!!!!

Well the nurse called (she isn't too friendly) and I start back with gonal-f tonight. They want the shots to be done between 6-9 pm, so there's no way for DH to give me the injection in the morning or for the doctor's office to do it, so for now, I'm just not going to think about it and I'll see how I feel tomorrow. If I have to skip it, I might just have to skip a day. Since it's the very beginning of the cycle, I would hope that won't screw too much up. I really do not think I'll be doing it myself. Too bad my dog can't do it for me :D!! Thanks for everyone's suggestions _ I really appreciate it!!

Want2beamamma -- I'm really hoping for a BFP for you this cycle!!!! The waiting is so tough, I know!!! Hang in there! I am praying that AF stays far far away from you for the next 9 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kari - We can be cycle buddies this month!! I really want to read about lots of BFPs from the current 2ww'ers and for the rest of us!!!!

Love you guys!

Kelley so happy to hear things are moving forward. As for your injection tomorrow do you have maybe a friend or someone who would give you the injection? Is it a pen or shot form?I am asking cause I did the pen injections myself and it wasent bad at all.Now I have yet to give myself in shot form.Do what you feel is right and if you really cant inject yourself then I guess you will have to miss one dose.I also asked about your pharmacists because mine here in greece had offered to do them for me if I wanted.I thought it was so nice.Maybe DH needs to teach your dog how to give you the shot.......lol.Well sweetie have a nice afternoon try not to stress to much over it.Good luck I really hope this is it for you.

Love ya,

Hi Mapia,

The shot is the pen (although the needle sticks out of it, so to me it's like a real shot... when I first went for the class I was under the impression that it would be more similar to the epi pen, where you press the pen against you and THEN the needle comes out.). Once I can see the needle, I just CAN'T do it. And, it's so weird, because I know it doesn't hurt -- I barely feel anything when DH does it. I just can't stick myself. Oh well! I wish I could ask someone else to do it for me -- but since I haven't really told anyone what we're doing, I want to keep it secret. As for the pharmacist, that was really sweet of yours to offer to do it!!!! I wish I lived in a smaller town, here I'd have to walk into CVS and ask the high school guy behind the counter to do it, lol. :) You know what, this cycle, again, I have no expectations. So, if I have to miss a day, I decided I'm not going to stress about it. Maybe not being 100% regimented will be what works, right? :). And then who knows, maybe I'll get brave by tomorrow!

How are you doing?

Love,
Kel

01-21-2008, 07:04 PM
Hey Kelley well I guess if you cant do it then you cant do it.It took me about an hour to finally poke myself the first time with the pen so it wasent easy but after that I was a pro.........lol.Wish I could help you and give you the shot.I understand about having a HS kid give you a shot so who knows maybe you will get brave but you will be suprised as to how brave we get during IF treatment.Anyway like you said it might be just what you need to het that BFP.As for not having any hope for this cycle please please sweetie dont be negitive you must stay positive.Well I hope you are having a nice afternoon.

I am not doing so good today woke up with a sore throat this morning hurt pretty bad then it got a bit better during the day like most colds. But tonight I am not doing good my throat is hurting pretty bad and I felt I had a fever and I do 99.6 yay for me.Looks like another long night for me seems like its becoming a routine for me lately.:(Well I took some tylenol but fever isent down totally yet I can say I am feeling a bit better but still feel pretty hot.Ok enough of my whinning.Have a great night.

Hi Kelley

Good luck with your cycle. I can understand you not wanting to inject yourself, I am sure I will be the same way. Like you say, with a less regimented cycle you may just get your BFP! I sure hope so!!!

Mapia, I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Wrap up warm and get well soon hun.

OMG - I had to log on right away to tell you guys. DH was so sweet tonight - he was going to go down the street and ask a lady (she is a nurse) a few doors down for me if she could give the injection tomorrow (now, we don't really know this lady, so that would have been a little embarrasing asking her), but I thought it was so sweet that he came up with that idea and was going to do it.

But anyway, he decided he wanted to sit with me and see if we could do it together tonight and said he'd even sit with me on the computer/video tomorrow night from Boston if I could do it myself. Well, I put ice on my belly for 4 minutes, and I DID IT ALL BY MYSELF!!!!!!!! Yay for me!!!!!! (I don't know if any of you remember, but I RAN DOWN THE HALL from DH crying 2 cycles ago - and he's given every shot since). So, now I know I can do it tomorrow!!!

DH will have to give all the shots after that (especially the trigger, b/c that one was tougher), but I am very proud of me!!! Had to tell you all right away!

Oh Mapia, I am so sorry you are not feeling well!!! If I lived closer, I'd bring over some tea for you!! Tylenol really helps with sore throats, I've found. I really hope that you can get some sleep and that you are feeling better tomorrow morning!!!! :(

OMG Kelley, that is so awesome you were able to do the shot yourself!!! Good job, and what a sweet DH you have seriously. He's a gem! As for the shot, it's kinda like riding a bike... once you learn it's easy each time thereafter (easy, but not fun ;)). You're gonna do great tomorrow!

Remind me, when is your first monitoring appointment? I hope you see Dr Nice a whole lot this cycle! I don't go back in until a week from Friday. All we're really doing is trying to get my lining to thicken up nice and good so I won't have too many interesting updates along the way. But it will still be fun to have you as a cycle buddy! :)

Kelley, that is so awesome!!! Good for you ~ I am so proud of you!!! The first injection you give yourself is by far the hardest, and you did it!! I must say too, your DH really is a sweetheart!! It is obvious that he was really concerned for you & went out of his way to make you comfortable. What a guy!! Some men probably would have thought you were just being a baby & said so (of course, those men would have had NO IDEA what they were talking about because self-injecting is VERY scary the first time). But, now that you have done it, you know that you can. Everything will be fine tonight. I like the idea of having DH on the computer too. It will be good moral support if you need it. But, I don't think you will. I am sure you'll do just fine. Way to go!!!!

Not that I am making fun of you but as I was reading your post I was pictureing the whole event of DH asking the neighbor that you dont know and you running down the hall crying. As for me I am still feeling crappy this morning was pretty bad.I have an appointment with the doctor this afternoon.I have pretty much been lying around all day other then fixing something for DH and I to eat thats it just tv and my couch.:DI am feeling a bit better now but I know once night come I feel worse why is that with all colds??????????Oh well hope you have a wonderful day sweetie.

I KNOW... DH always jokes around and says, "Our kid better be well behaved or else I'm going to give him/her hell for all of these shots and things we went through", lol.

I don't think I'll have much trouble with the injection tonight, but DH is going to have to do them after tonight. He was funny yesterday, because after I did it, he told me how proud of me he was, but then he said "Can I please do the rest of the shots when I get back? It's fun!". I was like, "FUN? Mapia - yeah, it's a little scary that DH actually has enjoyed sticking me with needles... :)! I know what you mean about spoiling kids -- I love that 'Nanny 911' show - and I always told myself that I'd never want to end up spoiling kids like a lot of them are. But then my dog is the most spoiled creature ever... go figure (she's actually batting at my leg and crying to get me off the computer now)! I hope you are feeling better today!

Sarah - Lol, I'm trying to picture your DH hiding behind the door till you're done injecting. Oh my goodness, we've all been through a lot, haven't we? I will be rooting for your BFP coming up this cycle too!!!

Princess - ugh - even though I did it last night, I really dread it too (and it really doesn't hurt at all... I don't know what my problem is!). This better be worth it!! How are you feeling tonight? You have had a very rough week, and I am so sorry!!

p.s. It's now 9:00, and I just did the second injection like a trooper! Woohoo!!! Yipee!! :) (Jeez - I never thought I'd be so excited to tell people I stuck myself!)

Hey Kelley so glad you did the injection I am so proud of you girl:).As for spoiling your dog thats ok cause dogs dont talk back to us but kids can talk back and be nasty.I see it with my godson and although I love my BF and godson he is spoiled. She will yell at him for doing something bad then he goes and kisses her and she gives in, to me thats so wrong. Then he will do the same thing and he knows if he kisses his mom she wont yell or punish him.I wont put up with his bad ways. The other day I was holding the baby and he got his jealousy spell so he came and pushed my glasses off my face.I usually wear contacts but I just got these real nice glasses and expensive which if he would have broken I would have whipped his butt.I yelled at him because it was so wrong.BF dident see what happened so she asked what happened she dident even punish him just told him it was wrong etc.I bit my tongue cause I dident want to argue with BF because of it.BF let me yell at him though she dident say anything to me about it.The next day BF said when I left godson said to her I upset godmom pretty bad for her to yell at me and his mom said yes you did and next time you need to behave and not upset godmom. My point is when a child isent punished they become such brats and dont respect anything.I remember when my mom had friends over we were not allowed in the living room and we had to respect our elders not anymore this generation is just bad.Ok enough about all this well at least tonight DH can go back to shooting you up since he likes it so much.........lol.Well have a great day.

I completely agree with you about not spoiling the kids, and about there being consequences for bad behavior. You are right - things are so different today with kids! I see it all the time at work too - how the kids completely control their parents.

LOL I love Nanny 911 too!!!! I'd never, ever let my kids get that spoiled (and I KNOW Dh wouldn't stand for it. Too many years in the military lol) but ti's really interesting to see the total turn around at the end. It's almost liek the kids lvoe their parents more for discipling them. In fact, I know I would :)

Don't worry Kelley, I knwo shooting up (LOL :jester: Praying!!) isn't fun and to me, it seems scary (yes, that's me being helpful lol ;)) bt it's worth it. Think of hat labour pains will feel like, and the shot will be nothing. In fact, you will be begging for a shot during labour! :D And YOU will be in labour soon, because you WILL get your BFP this time around!!!!!

Hey Kelley! Good job on becoming an expert at self-injections!!! It's definitely a bit of weight off your shoulders once you've gotten comfortable with doing it yourself... sometimes our DH's just can't get their schedules to cooperate and it's reassuring to know he is not needed to get the job done. BTW, I also thought that was hiliarious he said that sticking you with a needle is "fun"!!!! :jester:

Hey, I'm glad you mentioned that your dog is a bit spoiled... my pooch is very spoiled and I always wonder if that's any indication as to how I'll raise my kids. I'm such a softy when it comes to him and I let him get away with anything! Your comment about the computer too... isn't it funny when they start nudging our legs and arms while we type cause they want attention? Just one look at him and I have to stop what I'm doing and go get a ball to play with him. It sure will be interesting to see how the dynamic changes once we have our children, won't it? Praying it happens soon for us. I'm excited to hear about your update on Friday! Till then, Grow Follies, Grow!!!!!!:blob_fire:blob_fire:blob_fire
